What I did on my Blog Vacation

I figured it has been several days since I have last posted. A lot has happened in those days so I figured I would write this blog as if it was an assigned paper in fifth grade. I will be doing my presentation on Monday if you want to see the live version.

Well on the first day of my blog vacation the snow that had fallen the day before was perfect packing snow so Tania and I went out to make a snow bunny. He was real cute then we decided to move our snowmen from the previous day so they could all hang out together by the side of the road. Here are our snowmen the biggest on is Bunny, the medium sized one is Frosty, and the littlest one is Alien baby.
Then over the next week we had our going away/Christmas party and we said goodbye to each other. I got a whole bunch of polar bear stuff. Tania made me a quilt and on the squares she ironed on pictures she had taken when she went to the Detroit zoo way long ago. It is super cute. Jen made me a shawl that is so super soft and prity, and I got a polar bear stuffed animal. Tarra made me some beautiful Christmas ornaments. Jenny gave me a polar bear fleece blanket and a framed picture of us from pub crawl along with a Sudoku book of puzzles. And Molly gave me a pink thong with a cute Victoria Secret bag.

I then took the last of my finals. It was really kind of pathetic because as I was sitting in the test I started thinking this is my last final ever! I almost started to cry, but then I pulled myself together so I could finish the test without totally breaking down. Then I said goodbye to all my friends at school and got a bit teary eyed. Then I went home and finished loading my car and said goodbye to Jen and Tania. That made me really cry. So after I was balling I got in my car and drove home. The entire drive home (4 hours) I cried. I don't know why really because I hate school and I kicked and and screamed when it was time to go to grad. school and I always hated being there so it was stupid for me to cry all the way home. But then I realized that I was crying more because I was finally done with school, and after 6 years of college the hardest part was done. I was also crying because I made some real close friends while I was at school. I have had close friends through out my life, but these girls I got along with in a wired way. It is hard to explain the type of friendship I have made with these girls but I hope that I can keep these friends.

So then the Christmas holiday started for me. I had Christmas with my mother, then step-dad, then my father, then BJ's family, then we drove to Michigan and had the last Christmas with my family in Michigan. I got theater tickets from my mother, a wireless mouse for my laptop from Brian, some puzzles and clinic materials from my father and Kelly, luggage from BJ's family, a Vikings football jersey from BJ and some mind teaser puzzles from the dirty Santa in Michigan. This Christmas was just as stressful as all the other Christmas' before and it seemed different because I didn't get to spend my three days with Katie in Michigan.

While in Michigan I went ice skating and didn't even fall!!! It was real cool! Then we went to the U of M basketball game. They one as they have for the past three years that we have been going to the games. Brett is so funny when we go to these games. He gets so excited and so worked up it just makes me laugh. Him and one of my cousins decided to sneak down and sit in the student section. It was funny. Then they decided to stay late and watch the U of M football game on the big screen. Then they came home at half time and watched the rest of the game on Granddad's new TV. IT was a close game with an awesome ending play that was so close to scoring and winning but granted, they lost. It was sad. Maybe next year.

While I was in Michigan, BJ was home sicker than a dog. Apparently one of the people who came over for Christmas brought the flu virus with them. Everyone but four people came down with the flu. It was bad. I thankfully was one of the ones who did not come down with the flu.

Tonight we are off to a wedding for a high school friend and tomorrow we will be going out some where for the new year. However, the plans keep changing so I don't really know where we will be going or how we will be spending our new year. Lots will be happening this next year so the beginning will determine how much fun this next year will be.

Thanks for listening to me ramble. Let me know how you spent your vacation!

Fun in the Snow

It's snowing here again today. I love when it snows and I don't have to go anywhere. Well today I officially got the full $20.00 out of my boots. After I got home from school I took a quick cat nap, then Tania came down and we sat here for awhile watching it snow. After a few min. We decided we should go out and play in the snow. So I borrowed a pair of snow pants from Tania and we went outside to have fun. Over a few hours we each made three snow angles, and together made two little snow men. The snow man were little because the snow wasn't packing all that well and we had to scoop it into a pile and pack the pile then we added sticks and stuff for the extra bits. I will go take a picture of it tomorrow if the remaining snow does not burry them. We were supposed to get about 6-8 inches of snow today and an extra 3 inches over night so it will be deep by the morning. It was fun to be a kid again! And I mean we went all out, crawling, rolling, and jumping in the snow. Many of the other tenants in the apartment thought we were little kids playing but then they realized it was me and Tania and they laughed at us.

Weekend

So as I mentioned in my last blog I was going to Minnesota with Tania. We had a great time, we didn't even get lost!! Well as long as you consider getting the right directions to the wrong hotel not getting lost. But it was all good when we made fools of ourselves at the wrong hotel. Then we went to The Mall of America. We ate dinner then ran around and shopped like mad. I got BJ more Christmas gifts and Tania got a bunch of shopping done too. We spent about 90 minutes in the Build A Bear Workshop and it was soooooo hard for me ton to buy anything. I love that store. Then we had just missed the bus back to the hotel so we had to wait another hour so we went to Victoria's and I bought one of their new seamless bras. It has to be my favorite.

Oh yeah and Friday night! Yeah it really wasn't as much fun as our other pub crawls, probably because it felt like nobody showed up. Normally we would have like 30 people going out but we had maybe like 15 and it was just boring and cold. Perkins afterward was fun though! Thanks for driving us Rusty!

Okay so back to Saturday. So BJ's brother and sister-in-law and kids were also going to The Mall of America that weekend because its tradition to have the kids go see Santa and Camp Snoopy. So I called BJ to see if they were at the mall the same time we were and found out that we were actually staying in the same hotel. WEIRD! So once I found that out I had to stop by and say hi. Come to find out, they were staying like 6 doors down from us. REAL WEIRD!

Well I got my first clinic grade for the term and my supervisor gave me an A-. This is awesome because she was the one who put me on the remediation plan last term, so this was great. I got up enough courage and asked her to write a letter of recommendation for me and she said yes, so that's cool too. Now it's off to study so I don't fail my finals and have to stay an extra semester, because that would suck really bad.

What an Emotional Week

A ton of stuff has happened since Monday.
- completed 2 Progress Reports
- Almost done with another Progress Report
- Billing forms are done
- Hours are split up
- Got assignments back 29/30
- Did a presentation
- Found out there was a complication with my externship
- 5 seconds later found out the complication was fixed
- Was told I have met my standards for my remediation plan. That means I can move home for real for the first time in 6 years.
- Started packing to go home.
- Get more and more excited about being less than an hour away from BJ for more than 3 weeks.
- Watched a cleft palate surgery that made me want to cry.
- Said goodbye to one of my favorite clients.
- Can't figure out what to wear for Pub Crawl tomorrow.
- Getting ready for drunken fun on Friday.
And I think that is it. So in a nut shell that is what is happening in my life. Saturday, I am going to Minnesota with Tania and I might start looking at dresses for my bridesmaids.

Monday, Monday

Well, Tania and I kicked butt today in our presentation. We got a 59/60 for the project WAHOO. The test I took was a different story. I think I did okay because of the amount I studied for it, however, I hate leaving tests when I'm not quite sure about the score.

Now I am sitting at home trying to find out when this Christmas present will be arriving. It makes me frustrated, because I ordered this item and didn't realize it was on back order. GRRRR. They don't have an idea of when it will be shipped and I know i could send someone back home to go find this gift. I just want to talk to a real live person, maybe I am just old fashion but I hate dealing with automated things. Plus I am on hold to talk to a representative about the back order to see if it will even get here in time for Christmas, but every 5 seconds it comes on telling me all about if I want a conformation for a recent order press "one". I JUST WANT TO TALK TO A REAL LIVE PERSON!!!!!!

I am going to scream. Seriously, Its getting a little annoying. I might just cancel the order and get someone to buy it for me at home.

snow, Snow, SNOW!!

Yes, it is snowing again in the city of Stevens Point. Funny thing though, all the weather services keep calling the snow, snow flurries. I am sorry snow flurries means that there is just a few flakes of snow every once in a while, not snowing so much the roads are bad and the ground is covered. So due to the snow I wore my awesome boots to school today, and yes, I forgot my real shoes at home. Bummer, good thing the boots kind of match my outfit. My client canceled today because they have to drive an hour both ways and they didn't want to risk their life. I have been wanting them to cancel since the beginning of the semester. Today, however, I was already dressed and ready to go when they called plus I have some adult screenings I have to do and I had to work at 7:45 so I couldn't go crawl back in bed and sleep an extra hour or so. Life is a bummer yes I know. Oh well it's all because of Snow, Snow, Snow!

After I finish all my homework this weekend I am renting two movies, maybe even buying them I'm not sure yet, White Christmas (because it's just not a Christmas season without singing the Sister song, even though my sister isn't here to sing it with me), and Christmas Vacation (because it just isn't Christmas without a fat guy wrapped in chains in his pajamas).

Everyone have a happy first of December and for all of you whose rent is due, don't forget to pay it!

Scissors and Polar Bears

So last night I was talking about scissors and realized that scissors is a pluralized word, but I don't really understand why. I mean it is weird to be like that pen, that paper, those scissors. Jen and Tania both think it is because there are two blades and that is what makes scissors plural. But they are stuck together so that should make them one thing right? Stupid English.

As most people know, I love polar bears. So we were looking into trips where you spend days upon days in the cold looking for polar bears in there natural environment. Brr, but really cool and kind of expensive. To freeze for a week it costs like $4,000. So, so much for that fun idea. I will have to save money for the next 10 years just to get their, but never fear, I will see the polar bears (and maybe take a little one home).

Oh and Happy Birthday to Katie!

Traffic, traffic

Okay, so I thought the traffic going home was sucky but man coming back sucked even more!!!! 14 miles of tollway traffic and 4 miles of construction traffic. About 2 hours total of delays. GRRR good thing there are only a couple more trips I have to make, and I could probably convince people to come with me on those other trips.

Well this week is going to be another slow blog week! Sorry. But Im almost done, so its not too bad. This is all that is due on Monday, the 5th of December:
1. A five - six page paper.
2. Make notecards for the Cleft palate class I'm in
3. Memorize the notecards for the test.
4. Make a culture handout for the Asian cultures.
5. Final therapy reports.

However, after all that is done, I will be done. Next semester I will have to work and write a 20 page paper, which really isn't that bad when taken into consideration.

Alright I'm off and I really wish all the dumb people get there butts in gear. It's the holiday season, be cheery and no more extra stuff right now I'm juggling all the friends I can right now. (I love you all).

Happy Thanksgiving

Well the turkey has been cooked the mashed potatoes eaten and the home made cranberry sauce has been spread over all the left overs. YUM. I hope all of your Thanksgiving dinners were delicious! I know mine was, and the best part about it I just had to show up and eat. However, next year BJ and I have been discussing the possibility of doing the dinner. AHH what are we thinking, were thinking the more food at our house the less time we have to spend in the car driving between houses.

Let me see, it has been a while since I blogged so I should probably catch you up on my life. On Wednesday night I drove home from Wisconsin. Now, I don't really enjoy driving in Wisconsin because I am scared of the state troopers. If they catch you speeding it's really expensive because they are allowed to be mean to out of state drivers. It sucks. Plus everyone drives like 5 under the speed limit. It is so frustrating and stressful I don't enjoy the drive. Then as I was getting close to the Illinois boarder, HUGE traffic jam! I'm talking 8-10 miles of bumper to bumper traffic. At first I was thinking oh, there is probably an accident, I hope everyone is okay, and I hope it can get cleaned up quickly. But then 30 minutes later I realize that the traffic is all the way from Illinois. It was Toll traffic. 10 Miles of toll traffic? This is ridiculous! Okay, so I grin and bear it because there is no other way to go and if I pulled off it would only delay me getting home that much longer. So I get to the toll plaza and Guess what! The state of Illinois Department of Transportation is STUPID! The toll plaza was under construction with all the signs taken down. So all the people from out of state were way confused and the lanes were all scrambled so even I didn't know where I was going. Yeah smart idea guys, start construction before the winter Holidays! So now I have to look forward to going back to Wisconsin and doing it all over again.

On the other hand when I was driving in Wisconsin it was still a little light out and this big orange thing in a tree caught my eye. When I looked at what it was, It was a hunter in his deer stand. I thought it was funny I could see one from the highway. (Oh and my sister thought a deer stand was the same darn thing as I did.)

So I think that's about it for right now, last night BJ and I went out to dinner at this new restaurants, it was very nice and reasonably well priced. They had $0.01 glasses of wine on Friday so it was good deal. Then we went to see Harry Potter so BJ could see it. Tonight, I am going to get my hair done. I figured with working Thursday and Friday I made enough money to get my hair done, maybe then I will actually style my hair if I like the length and color. (This is what I am going to look like after I get my Hair done.)

Our own little piece of history

A weird thing happened yesterday. Molly, one of the girl in the speech program, was working with her desk and all of a sudden her desk locked on her. One of her draws was even open. So after a little bit of wrestling we finally gave up and declared it locked. We tried the keys and they didn't work, it kind of sucked. So the school called the lock smith and he came to open her poor desk. Well they kind of found a treasure when they opened her desk. First they found a real floppy disk. You know one of those big and truly floppy disks. Plus they found about four different sheets of paper. One was some ones job application for, are you ready of this one, Febuary 23, 1981. I wasn't even born then. A couple of the other sheets were from 79, and 80. I just wonder how long the person who lost those pieces of paper looked for them before they gave up. I thought of my cousin Katie who would have just been in love with the idea of a secret literally locked in her desk. Sorry Katie I didn't save them for you.

PS I get to sneak out of my Grad assistant job early tomorrow so I can go home and get sleep before I have to be at work at 7:00 am on Thanksgiving morning. One more year where I have to miss the Macy's Thanksgivning Day Parade. I don't even remember the last time I was in my pajamas watching the Rockets perform. It is still my biggest wish to see the New York Rockets perform their Christmas show. I mean to become a Rocket means you have to be one of the most perfect team dancers and their legs are just fabulous. To me they are the Ideal dancer. (One year I had tickets to the show in Chicago but I only got to see the last 20 minutes. It still makes me cry a little to think I was that close to seeing the whole show and I missed it.)

Sugar Plums and sweet stuff

As I sit in front of my computer at 11:00 at night I think to my self. This is stupid, I could so be going to bed right now and getting some sleep. However, due to my stupid obsession with my boyfriend I think I should sit up and wait for the last 2 minutes of a football game to conclude so I could talk to him for just a bit. But I shouldn't blame it all on him, I mean I am living in Wisconsin and can't stand the Green Bay Packers so I guess I wouldn't really mind if they lost. I always hate the last 2 minutes of a football game because they seem to last FOREVER. The coaches have this strategy of saving all their timeouts so they can drag out the agony of a loss or try and throw the other team off by stopping and starting over and over again.

Well GO Vikings, I hope you win so the game is over. I think I might cry if it goes into over time.

Harry Potter!!!

OH MY GOODNESS! HARRY POTTER WAS AWESOME! Yes, we went to go see it at 9:30 and 150 minutes later it was over. It left me speechless. These movies get better and better with every episode. And to answer all your questions, I finished just about all of my homework today, all I have left to do is correct my papers and write two final therapy reports. I was trying to work on my Cleft Palate homework but it seems like the answers are nowhere to be found.

Alright, I going to go and see if I can burn off some of this caffeine from the large wild cherry coke I finished during the movie. I really am sort of sleepy. Plus I still have so much to do. It will feel nice once I get all these major projects done and I can just ride out the semester. I can't wait.

NERD

I almost want to cry because my Friday is more depressing than the worst case senerio. So here is my day. First, I can't wait up so I am running just a little behind. Then I can't get my contacts in, they just keep jumping out of my eyes. Then I don't have time to get breakfast, realize it has snowed and don't have time to move my car so I decide I will just shovel later. Get to school and lose the feeling in my fingers because it is so cold there. I eventually come home when I cant feel my fingers or toes. Now comes the nerdy part. I have spent the last three hours writing papers and reflections it doesn't even feel like a Friday. I know I'm whinny tonight but I am so sick of homework it is real hard for me to stay focused and finish all this stuff. Here is a list of things that need to get done this weekend.
1. 12 page paper (7.5 pages done)
2. Reflection on an interview
3. Fake report for class
4. Final therapy reports (two to be exact)
5. Session review (DONE!!)
6. cleft Palate definitions
7. Cleft Palate structure labeling

So now I have to get back to paper writing because I am not aloud to go see Harry Potter until 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 are completed.

Guess What! It Snowed

Yes it snowed up here in Central Wisconsin. And this isn't like the almost snow Illinois got. No, no, this snow covered the ground and took away a bunch of peoples power too. We now have three inches of snow and I have decided to break out my spiffy new boots. As I write this I am at school but when I get home I will add a picture of my boots to the site. So now its cold and it takes me about 10 min. just to get all bundled up to walk to school.

On a separate note, last weekend I bought our wedding invitations. Yeah that's exciting. And me being the super saver shopper and refuse to spend a million dollars on one day in my life found them at WalMart. So 120 invitations cost us $53.oo, that includes invitations, evnelopes, response cards, envelops and envelop seals. Real awesome right. Now all we have to do is print them up and that won't take us very long once we figure out the stupid guest list. Yippy. I would post a picture of the invitations but they aren't very photo genic and for all of you coming to the wedding they will be a surprise for you when they come in the mail.

Out of order for a bit

This week is way stressful. Between the two papers, three reports, two Diagnostics, progress notes, test, and a few other mini assignments I do not think I will post much for this week. So you all might want to take the week off in checking up on Kelly's life.

Numa Numa

Most of you by now have probably seen the Numa Numa video with the guy lip-singing to the Numa Numa song. If you haven't seen it here is the link to the site for your own enjoyment. http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/numa.php Now this video gave us hours of enjoyment when we first found it but we were determined to find yet another video for this up beat song. And well here it is. http://www.koreus.com/files/200407/lego-zone.html This is not like the original video NOOOO! This one is with LEGO men. Yes that is right Lego men. Everytime I watch this I can't help but laughing and watching in amazement. Honestly who ever took the time to move each little lego piece to get this final product has too much time on there hands. Hope you enjoy the Lego Numa Numa as much as I do. Make it a full screen for better enjoyment.

I love Thursdays

Thursdays are so nice now. I have a busy morning between 7:45 and 1 but after 1:00 I'm done. Today was a fun day because I finally finished organizing the cards and stuff for the raffle and started having people draw. Almost everyone has picked up their stuff. I even waited to draw until 3/4 of the people drew their selections and I got one of the things I really, really wanted. It was the story starters photo cards. It is 134 photo cards with action things on it. It is awesome. These cards I can do anything with. Then I also go three smaller decks of cards that are fun but not as cool.

Then we decided to go to lunch. At lunch I saw the BIGGEST rice krispy treat ever. Now think a little, what is the largest rice krispy treat you have ever seen. And NO when you make your own that doesn't count. I mean that you could have bough. No matter what you say, THIS ONE WAS BIGGER. It was the size of a cookie sheet. It was amazing!

Hope you had a good Thursday also. Keep coming back for more in the life of Little Kelly.

I Don't Know

I don't know what to post about today. Hmmm, let me see. Nothing really exciting happened today so there is not really anything to talk about. We had boring classes one after the other then our client then work where I started to divide up the cards to give away.

Well since nothing different happened today I will just ask What is your favorite activity you do during your day at work/school?

Tuesday, November 08, 2005

Oh so sorry!

I was a bit distracted yesterday and ended up not posting. So in regards to that, So Sorry.

Today as I was walking to school I noticed a whole bunch of signs plastered around campus. As I got closer I saw that they were for Disney recruiters. This program is kind of like studying abroad except you study at Disney world. This got me thinking... I have never been really excited to study abroad. That is not saying I wouldn't want to travel to those places because I so would want to travel the world but explore places on my own terms and not have school to make it blah. I mean I hate being in school and if I'm over seas I should not be stressed out about my spelling or readings or tests. However, I would LOVE to go Disney world and study. I would just drop everything to have Mickey as my professor, or live in Cinderellas castle (I wonder how much rent would be there?). I don't know what I would study if I went to Disney. I highly doubt they have Speech-Language Pathology event though Donald has some sort of spitting problem. I think I will change my major to Early Childhood Development. Mom, what do you think. BJ, you can study art. If you studied at Disney what would you major in???

The sewing machine Drama

Sew, Tania has been trying to buy this sewing machine from Singer for the past week. However, the problems that just keep coming up are making her try and figure out if it is really worth it. First, she went to JoAnn fabrics and tried to special order it through there. However, they were making her jump through hoops and not accepting her credit card. Then, Tania called her husband and had him buy the machine in Detroit and mail it to her here. But when he went to pay for the machine they told him there were insufficient funds in the account. After a bunch of phone calls they found out that JoAnn's charged the account even though they told them they didn't. So after they canceled the order and got the money back in their account her husband bought the machine and shipped it to her. It arrived here on Wednesday night and she was super excited. Then on Thursday, another sewing machine arrived at her house. After more investigation JoAnn's didn't cancel her order and charged her account once more for the machine. So now she has insufficient funds in her account, two really expensive sewing machines and JoAnn's saying they don't have any recollection of contact with Tania. Sew, we called FedEx yesterday to get them to come back and pick up the boxes because they should have never left it here in the first place. We told them to pick it up at our house though because Tania was going to be gone all day. Well they didn't they went to her apartment and we still have both sewing machines. Tania is way mad. So hopefully everything will get worked out soon but he moral of the story is never buy a sewing machine from JoAnn's.

Christmas in November

Wow actually, it's November and Christmas is almost here. Yikkes!

Well anyway, I showed up to do my assistantship hours today and found four GIANT boxes of "complimentary" items from the Super Duper company. Now anyone who has had any sort of contact with a Speech-Lanugage Pathologist knows that Super Duper is THE COMPANY to get any resource, or activity, or flashcards for any issue. (The Picture is from the deck Fun with cats and dogs). FOUR big boxes. It was amazing. Especially since they are starting to phase out cardboard boxes for all the flashcards. They are now putting them in metal tins that hold up 100 times better than cardboard. So today, I went through just about all of the new items and found the old falling apart items and replaced them all in all up to this point right now we have taken 180 items off the shelves. I am on a cleaning high right now because 1) we have so much stuff that the shelves were getting to crowded so there are half as many items on them now. And 2) all the things that are coming off the shelves we are making into grab bag type of items for all the first and second year graduate students to take home. (Since we can't do Christmas presents we might do first snow gifts instead). But now we have to go through and make 40 different grab bags from all the stuff, this should get very, very interesting.

Look forward to tomorrow when I discuss the sewing machine issue Mrs. Tania is having.

Hasbro

So as my assistantship my job is to clean, organize and update the clinical materials in the speech-language clinic. Well today it was brought to my attention that a few of the games are missing or have broken parts to them. So I thought well wouldn't it be nice if we could replace the games, but that costs a lot of money when you think about replacing 10 games with just one or two game pieces missing but the rest of the thing is just fine. Therefore, I started to investigate and this is what I found:

1. You know how games are made by MB, and Parker Brothers. Yeah, well really they are all made by hasbro and they rule the world when it comes to toys and games and stuff. (Can you say MONOPOLY? And yes they make that game toooo.)

2. You can buy pieces to games like perfection, candyland, and all those other games that have little parts that you fed to the dog when you were little or that have cards that were torn in the fight over who got to go first or who REALLY won the game. The parts cost any where from $0.50 to about $3.00.

3. For every game that you know there are about four different editions for it. For example, there is Candyland, Dora the Explorer Candyland, Winnie the Pooh Land, and like a 25 edition Candyland. Everything you could ever want they have it.

Hello and Happy Halloween. Hope everyone's day was spooky! Today for me was just another day at school except my poor roomie was attached by back pain and we had to handle this creepy Halloween activity. Last night, however, the Demon Shower was back and this time it had two friends, Clogged drain and Count Duckula. So one more time Happy Halloween, trick-or-treat and BOOO!

Weekend Fun!

So as I had mentioned before, my dad came up to spend the weekend with us. Friday we went out to dinner at 8 then, we went to the movie store and rented SIX yes SIX movies. But because of Tania's discount they only cost us $3.50. SO then we watched one of them and went to bed. Saturday we woke up and went to the Blueberry Muffin for breakfast, then for a quick tour of the clinic. After that we went to the Steven's Point Brewery!!! It was fun, they are making new soda's now and one of them is Black Cherry Cream and it is the BEST cherry coke I have ever tasted in my enter life. After the tour we had fifteen minutes to taste as much beer/soda as we wanted. Then we came home and wanted something to do, so we found a geolographal marker. It was exactly half way between the equator and the north pole and one forth the way around the world from Greenwich, England. We had an adventure finding the place though cuz, HA we missed it. Then we went to Gander Mountain and Look I found a Ten Pointer!!! Then we came back home and watched a couple more movies and went to sleep. Then, DUNDUNDUN DUNNNNNN, at 3:20 in the morning the refrigerator started making a noise that was combined with a whinny puppy, and a drill. It was really annoying, and we were sleepy and really couldn't figure out how to fix it. Our genius ideas were hit it, and wiggle the wires. Finally we decided that it would just be best to unplug it so we could sleep. Then this morning, we plugged it back in and after an hour of the noise it just stopped. SO now the refrigerator man is coming to fix the unbroken refrigerator tomorrow, while our of our frozen food is at school in that refigerator. Secretly, I hope it brakes before the guy comes so I don't look like a dork for calling him out. Anyways, Dad left around 1:30 and Jen came home around 4 and Tania around 7:30. SO now were all just chilling.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Brian! Since today is your birthday this one goes out to you. Hope you have a good and happy day. I'll call you later.

On another note, I have spent some time fixing and adding new and cool things to my blog. First, I took Katies cue and added a counter to my blog so I can see who is checking my blog and how many times they check it. I can also see where they are from, cuz many of you don't leave comments so I don't really know to what ends of the earth people are coming from to read my blog.

Second, I added the list of other blogs I read. BJ has decided to join the blogging world so his site is there along with Katie and Ryan's and other friends.

Third I added some of the sites that I HAVE to go to just about every time I am on the computer. Yes, I do get easily distracted so my blog is a way to get all you distracted too. Just thought I should share the fun. Hmmm, I think that is it. Have a good weekend everyone and I will probably post next Sunday night.

PS did you realize I posted every day this week. I think that is a first for me. WOW!!!

World Champs

Wahoo! Last night the guys in black swept the Astros gaining their first World Series Championship in 88 years. Let's just say it makes me proud to be from Chicago. I did, however, fall asleep for a bit of the game. But, luckily BJ gave me a call to wake me up so I could watch the end of the ninth. The Sox won 1-0 with the only run scored in the eight inning. I was almost certain it was going to go into extra innings and I would have to stay up and watch them all. I guess their motto worked "Win or Die trying" and nobody died! I only wish I was back in the Chicago area to celebrate, just because nobody around here really cares about the White Sox. Oh well.

On another note, my dad is coming up to visit me this weekend and I am super excited!

Time to get back to work. Later!

Ode to Ten Pointers and Deer Stands

For those of you who know me very well I sometimes do things unintentionaly to embarasse myself. When those times occure I am never to slow to share with others my stupidity or clutziness. So I decided that today would be a day to share with all of you the story that made my roomie love me, my friends in Wisconsin take pitty on me, and almost made my mother choke on her dinner. So here it goes.

About a year ago, when Jen and I were still getting to know each other and it was the first semester of grad. school, we were taking a class called fluency. This is the class where we got to learn all about stuttering. For Jen and I we had both taken a course like this in undergrad so it wasn't that new and it wasn't that difficult for us to do. One of our main projects in that class was to transcribe two speekers that stuttered. Transcribing is putting in to writen form everything and I mean everything the speeker says. Typically this isn't all that difficult but when you have an individual how has 15 ums or repetes a word ten times it gets a little more difficult.

So the first individual was an adult having a conversation with the clinican. Hard to transcribe cuz he had a real bad stutter. The second individual was a child playing with the clinicians and some toys. This was a little more difficult because the child kept turning away from the mic or would mumble something and it was your best guess at what he said. So Jen and I are sitting there listening as best we can as the kid takes his plastic men to go hunting then to the processing plant and so on. All of a sudden Jen looks up and stops the tape and I look at her like, "what?" Now Jen knows I grew up in the city and the whole nothern country life is real new to me so she gets this look on her face like "I don't want to offend you but..." and asks Do you know what a ten pointer is? Me using the best logic I can says, "Sure! It's the largest deer you can get, right?" After Jen picks her mouth off the floor and composes herself calmly explains that it has to do with number of points in the antlers.

After a bit more disscusion on Ten Pointers we go back to transcribing only for Jen to stop the tape a few minutes later to ask (in the nicest voice ever), "Anything else you are unsure of?" This is my chance she offered the information so it's now or never to loss some of my cityness and join the country croud. So I think about and I realize, I'm not real sure what a deer stand is. So I ask. Now Jen being real smart and on top of things realizes that this won't be nearly as fun if she didn't first ask the next question, "what do you think it is?" Ah that Jen, she is a smart one. So I tell her "It's like as saw horse but bigger where you can hang the deer before you take it back to the truck?"

This one almost killed her, this is also the point of the story when I told my mom that she started choking on food she was laughing so hard. After quite a bit of laughter and me having no idea what is so funny, exept i know that I am now an official morron she tells me it is where the hunters site when they are waiting for the deer. Right, gotcha, now I understand what those things are on the side of the road when I drive home. Now Jen being the good friend she is doesn't want anyone to miss out on the information she had just obtained informs the other speeches which they also enjoy.

So there it is the story of how I learned about deer stands and ten pointers. Good thing I had that class in fluency or else I would just be a city girl.

Oops, I almost forgot to post!

It's been a busy night, and for that matter a busy day too. I actually got a lot of stuff done today sitting around the clinic. After my last client I came home then went to a laryngectomy support group. Basically this support group is for people who have had part or all of their larynx removed (the voice box). It was real interesting to sit and talk with some of these people and hear what they feel caused there the cancer that lead them to where they are today. A couple of them knew it was because they had smoked most of their lives, but one lady had never smoked a day in her life and the other felt that it was caused by saw dust or other chemicals that he was exposed to on a daily basis. It was interesting but shocking none the less. Now, I'm watching the Sox and am hoping for the best but we will see.

What an awesome Weekend

I was home this weekend for a bunch of things. First, I had a meeting with my future externship supervisor. I loved her and her case load is incredible, she has the little itty bitty kids, so cute. Then I went to the eye doctor and got some contacts. Ever since I sat on my glasses they just haven't been the same so now I don't have to wear them as much. It has definitely been interesting getting used to poking myself in the eye, and actually has created some interesting experiences like me losing one of my contacts this morning but finding it 15 min. Later. Go figure. Any way, Friday night BJ and I went out to dinner like grown ups, it's fun to pretend to be a grown up some times. Saturday there were family pictures with my mom's family then we went to lunch together. Since my dad and Kelly went to see Tom at Truman it was just Megan, Jasiman, and me chilling for the most of Saturday. Then grandma came over to make cheese cake with Megan. Saturday night BJ and I watched part of the White Sox game (I can only watch when they are winning because I get to stressed out when it is a close game so we channel surffed for a while.) They had a great game and won!!! Then on Sunday it was church, quick stop by work, and lunch with mom then home again, home again jiggity jig. Did all the homework that I didn't do over the weekend and watched the Sox Win AGAIN AWESOME!!!!! Oh yeah, and nice job to the Minn. Vikings for not losing to the Packers. So that was my fun weekend, what did you do?

Cinnamon Sugar

When I was little and sick we got to eat toast of breakfast/lunch/dinner. On the toast we would have butter and then top it with cinnamon sugar. The best part of it was when the melted butter absorbed the toping making it very yummy. I started thinking about this last night when my tummy was still getting over the flu, but then realized I don't have any cinnamon sugar. I got a little sad at this thought and couldn't sleep for a little while because I was hungry and didn't have anything to eat.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my dad's birthday so Happy Birthday to him.

Today I also took a half-day mental health day. I went to school as normal and did therapy from behind the wall so I wouldn't infect the kiddo. But by 12 I was spinning, and in pain so I left. The rest of the day I have spent sleeping and laying on the couch. It's nice to be able to relax and sleep instead of sit around and do nothing (cuz that's what I do on Tuesdays). However, I am missing therapy this afternoon but I don't have the energy to do therapy with him today.

Sad Monday

A whole bunch of things combined to make this not the best Monday on the face of the earth. First of all, I came down with a cold/flu or something yesterday and then didn't sleep at all last night, but I wasn't really sleepy. Then this morning it was raining and they had recently tore up part of the side walk on the way to school so now it's all muddy and my clean pants got dirty. Then I got to school and realized that the other day I had taken my keys for the clinic out of my bag and put them in my purse so I was locked out of school. I had to stand there and look like a moron when the next person came to unlock the door. Then I get down to the grad. room and realize that some time over the weekend/Friday the janitor threw out the flowers that I had drying. That just made me want to cry. I mean they weren't in the way or anything and obviously I was saving them, and I can't replace them cuz anything I replace them with won't be the flowers form our anniversary. And all this was before 8 am. So then I have classes and well that made the day stinky (even though I'm stuffed up) just because. In my last class we got our tests back that we took last Monday and I got a 79% on it which is a C+ but in grad school that doesn't cut it so I will be busting my butt in that class to raise my grade the rest of the semester. So then I think great, a 5 hour break I'll go home and nap! HAHA Wrong!! Yeah as soon as I lay down my head just turns to a giant ball of solid mucus and I can't breath, so no nap for me so I'll watch TV. Yeah the TV remote worked to turn on the TV but didn't work to change any of the channels (batteries are died). So recap, crappy morning, comphy on the couch, dead remote batteries. So I decide I'll demantal the VCR remote, yeah they have AAA batteries and I need AA so on to the DVD remote whew one thing went right. But HAHA nothing on the TV how frustrating!!! At that point in time Tania came home so I went to her house to watch her cable but there was nothing on TV there either. Even Dr. Phil was bad today, then back to school for our boring class. The longer I sat through class the more muscles hurt in my body. Now my whole body hurts from the top of my head down to my little toe (which I still don't think is healed all the way since the collision in august). Sooooooooo that's my day I just want to have a whole body corn bag or heating pad and die!! But I guess I have to live through it till tomorrow. I might not do early morning therapy because I don't want to infect my little kiddo.
