King's Speech

Being a Speech Language Pathologist I was very intrigued by this movie before it was nominated for 100 movie awards.  Last Friday I was able to be a grown up with no kids and went to the movies with my Hubbie and the neighbors.  We obviously saw The King's Speech.  Very good movie.  I also enjoy European history so this was a great movie in my mind.  BJ enjoyed it and I wanted him to see it in the theater with me because I knew he wouldn't stay awake if we waited until it came out on DVD.  I also really enjoyed the movie because I recently added a new kid to my caseload who stutters and hopefully he will eventually be able to  manage his fluency to be what ever he likes when he grows up.  I can hope!

Harry Potter!!

Saturday morning, I got my butt out of bed early for a Saturday and drove BJ's, Elijah's and my butt to my fathers house, dropped off my child, picked up my sister and headed to the movie theater at 9:00 am.  I have to admit, never been to the theater that early in the day before.  We watched the HP7 aka Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.  Wahoo!!  However, because I have had a child the last time I have read the books was 3 years so I was a bit out of it.  Unfortunately,  because the books are so darn large they end up cutting out HUGE amounts of the book which makes me sad.  Now I am on a mission to read and watch all the movies before the end of the series comes out, SOME TIME NEXT YEAR.  That is dumb.    Why do I have to wait that long??? BOO.

Social Network

My goal in my blogging life is to get intoxicated, blog and then in the next 3 months start a multi-billion dollar company.

Saturday, BJ and I went out to see Social Network which is based off of the the creation of Facebook.  I really enjoyed it.  Not just because it was the first movie in the theater, but because it made me think about when I started facebooking and all that stuff.  It also made me a bit upset that there is a billionaire out in the world 2 years younger than me that has this amazing job.  Oh well, I will just sit here and keep blogging until I have my billion dollar idea.  So keep reading.

Highly recommended you go see the movie.

Movie review

This weekend, BJ and I were able to head on a date. Just the two of us. It was wonderful. We headed out to the movies to see...Despicable Me. Yup that's right the last two movies BJ and I have paid for have been cartoons. 3D cartoons at that. Then we...SHHHHH...snuck into Grown Ups.

Despicable Me was super cute, super funny, and unlike any Disney movie, did not make me cry. What I did realize, 3D movies are flipping expensive. The matina price was 10 bucks a ticket. That is stupid crazy expensive. I don't even what to know what regular price is.

Then because I wanted to see it, Elijah was with Grandma, we strolled into Grown Ups. I loved it. However, I would also love to see the first 10-15 minutes of it because that's what happens when you show up late for it. But it really made us start to talk about who/what families we would want to go away with for a week plus to a cabin and no TV. That was a tough one and the answer was not final yet. We need more friends to have children and see how our parenting styles mesh before we plan anything further.

P.S. Katie and Olivia- I have a great plan right around your fourth birthday. Hint hint, it involves a giant mouse and lots of fairy tales. I just keep forgetting to let you know :)

Date night

Last night BJ and I went out to dinner and a movie and we left little man Elijah with his grandparents right down the street from the movie theater. While we were at dinner I felt as though the entire restaurant was empty. I thought that was odd, especially since it was about 6 on a Friday night, less than a block away from the movie theater. We then saw The Blindside which is a movie about the pro-football player who had a difficult start in life. The movie reassured a feeling I have had for a very long time. I have always felt that I want to have 2 children then adopt a third.

However, while at the movie, Elijah had a massive gas attack and was very uncomfortable and screaming for about 45 minutes. Poor Dad and Kelly. They tried to call and text, but they didn't go through since we were in the theater. I feel bad. At least he finally went back to sleep. Now I just get to spend the rest of the weekend trying to get the kid to poop.

First Halloween, First pumpkin experience. Now what kind of mother would I be if I did not let my child experience ALL of Halloween. We have the costume, we have taken festive pictures (with our neighbors door decorations), and we bought the pumpkins. Well I think it is my duty as a parent to expose my child to all the gross things there are too. Such as pumpkin guts. I only wish I could have let him play in it all longer, I was just afraid he would try to eat it or get a skin rash from the guts so he just got to dip his fingers in it. But it still is funny.

On a side note did anyone notice how little time I actually spend with my child when he is awake during the day?? Yeah, that's why there are not a lot of pictures of him, because I'm to busy playing with him in the 2-3 hours he is awake and home.

Harry Potter Exhibit

So on Saturday we headed downtown with our neighbors to enjoy the Harry Potter exhibit at the Science and Industry Museum. It had great reviews and I am a huge fan of the books and enjoy the movies. I thought it would be a fun time going to this thing to see all this stuff from the movies. Well we got down there (late thanks to the Sox game) and pay the 16 bucks to park. We go in, museum has been closed for 2 hours now but there is a fairly large crowd hanging around to get into the exhibit because they only will let so many people in at a time. We get to where we start waiting to get in and Elijah is hungry so we have to try to feed him quickly while we wait. However, being a baby he is distracted by every little thing around him and he is taking forever to eat. He finally finishes his bottle just as we are being let into the show. Once in we find out no cameras and no video. Still not sure why. Rent the movies and you can see it all there. The first room is way over packed because of all the people they just let in. So we skip the first couple of things and move on. I guess I was expecting more interactive portions, at least a place to take pictures and buy them for an outrageous price. I really wanted to see Baby Elijah in Hogwarts gear. Plus it was fun to see just how small the actors all were when they started and even in some of the later movies. Teeny tiny.

Let's just say I'm glad I didn't end up paying to see it, but I am glad I went in the end. Just bummed I have no pictures to prove I was there.

Were Freezing

Just kidding. Its so flipping hot around here I am sure I will melt when I put on my snow suit next weekend. We are trying to lay low and say cool. Now let's all hope that next weekend it won't rain and it won't be toooooo increadably hot. This afternoon, BJ and I are going to see Cars for the second time just for fun! see you later.

Having Troubles

Well if you haven't noticed I am not posting as much as I typically do. That's because I am having a hard time adjusting to being home and getting everything accomplished that I want to do. Most of you know I have two homes where I try to divide my attention between but I also have BJ who I would like to spend the majority of my time with. This all causes a problem because I spend several hours a day driving to and from houses or talking with people. When I was at school I would run out of things to do, so that's when I would post. Now when I run out of things to do I want to go to sleep. Starting tomorrow I begin my internship thing and hopefully I can create more of a routine that I can fall into. Once I have formed this routine I can figure out what days will have room in them to post and what days do not.

On another note, since I last posted BJ and I registered which was a ton of fun. I personally think we went a little overboard but hey its just a wish list of things we would like to have not necessarily a list of what we must have. Even though there are some items that we registerd for that would make life a lot easier if we had like bed sheets or lamps or silverware. However, the whole process took about 10 times longer than I expected and I was really exhausted after we were done. I worked during the day on Friday and then made BJ dinner that night. He was very proud of me, I didn't burn anything down and it wasn't macaroni and cheese from the blue box. Then we goofed around online a little more with our registies and created a new one because we found more stuff we liked at another store. Saturday Megan and I went to go get our toes done for Megan's birthday (only a month late). I have cute little snowmen on my big toe and Megan had flowers put on hers. I felt bad though because I paid with a credit card and they didn't give me an option for a tip and the only cash I had on me was a $10 bill so I didn't leave a tip. I hate when I have to do that, they spent so much time on my toes and I couldn't leave a tip. Then Saturday night BJ and I saw Memoirs of a Geisha. It was real good and very cultural informative. I liked it and am now reading the book. I, unlike some, like to see the movie first then read the book because the book fills in gaps the movie leaves out enhancing the overall experience of the whole thing. If I do it the other way around then I don't enjoy the movie as much or spend to much time analyzing how the two were different.

Well that's all for now. Hopefully tomorrow I will post about the first day of work.

Harry Potter!!!

OH MY GOODNESS! HARRY POTTER WAS AWESOME! Yes, we went to go see it at 9:30 and 150 minutes later it was over. It left me speechless. These movies get better and better with every episode. And to answer all your questions, I finished just about all of my homework today, all I have left to do is correct my papers and write two final therapy reports. I was trying to work on my Cleft Palate homework but it seems like the answers are nowhere to be found.

Alright, I going to go and see if I can burn off some of this caffeine from the large wild cherry coke I finished during the movie. I really am sort of sleepy. Plus I still have so much to do. It will feel nice once I get all these major projects done and I can just ride out the semester. I can't wait.

I'm Board!

Finally a day off! No work and no obligations to do anything, however, I'm board! I am trying to make plans for the evening but things are just more difficult than they really should be. For example, I want to make reservations at a comedy club, but they are not answering the phone so I don't know if they are booked for the evening or not. Frustrating!

Last night BJ and I went to see Wedding Crashers. We both really enjoyed it. In fact, BJ has already put it on his "I am definitely going to get that one when it comes out on DVD" list.

This is a Good Job BJ shout out. BJ is fighting crime in his jewelry store and is helping catch a thief who was their on Wed. Apparently, (all my information comes from the star himself) on Wednesday a lady came into the store and was acting very suspicious. She hung around looking at different items for over an hour and BJ thought this was very weird. He wrote down her license plate number just in case and she left. Well today he gets a call from the owner questioning him about missing items in some of the cases. He tells her about the weird lady and they go to review the tapes. The tapes show her actually taking items out of the cases and leaving with them. Well BJ's smart thinking with the license plates helps them trace this lady down. I just hope they catch the lady! Nice job BJ!

Oh and one year ago today BJ and I got engaged! Wow that year went fast.
