More Olympics

As you know I get a bit obsessed with the Olympics.  Last week I started the Olympic buzz wit home of my older kids and we all know how well that went over...

This week during our group time were checking out the weather for the kids and I thought why not check out the weather in Russia.  Here is what I found out.

Weather in the Chicago suburbs: cloudy/snowy with a high of 8 and a wind chill of -25.
Weather in Sochi, Russia: rainy and a high of 53....

I get it, they have a mountain and all but we have a mountain and gee I don't know...SNOW!

Hockey game

I don't want to hear it. I know I'm behind.  I'll explain later.
Last weekend we jumped in the car and headed north to Rockford.  BJ had tickets from work that were awesome seats so we went.  It was my dad, step-mom, sister, me, BJ, his mom and dad, and Elijah.
The seats were right on the ice, next to the players bench.  It was a special box so all the seats were leather and had padding.  We evem got to be on the big TV.
If that's how all sporting events were I would go to them all the time.  FREE and COMFORTABLE.  AWESOME!
We taught Elijah how to bang on the glass and the zamboni guy banged back every time he was close enough.
The team is the farm team for the Chicago Blackhawks so we saw several players that also play on for the Hawks.  Some of the permanent team members were there signing stuff.  Elijah got his jersey signed.

At the end of the night one of the equipment people gave us a game puck.  We gave it to Elijah and for the hour and a half home he held onto it every once in a while would tell me it was his "aty but, fom da dame, mine"  Once he fell a sleep he he held onto it.  Thank goodness he was sleeping when we got home or else he probably would have slept with it.  The next morning he found it and his play hockey sticks and carried them around until we left for school.  Awesome.

Softball Has begun

Tonight began softball again.  It seems like it has been ages since BJ has played softball.  But since it is the first game of the season there were things that needed to be done.  By the time Elijah and I had gotten home BJ had started them and Elijah decided he needed to help.
First you have to remove the old cleats from last year that have worn down and are no good anymore.
Then you have to wash the shoes to get all the rocks off of them.
Then you put new cleats on.
Now all we have to do is get the weather to cooperate and Elijah and I could go down and watch a couple of games.

Dear Vikings

Dear Vikings,

I would like to request another great football season from you this year. Last year, when you were wonderful, my hubby was never happier. He was proud to wear your colors and cheer as much as possible for you. It was also fortunate for me that many of your games were at different times than the Bears and we were able to watch the games on our home TV. For the shear courtesy of me having to give up my beloved television on Sundays, Mondays, and sometimes Thursdays, I think you owe me a season like last.

Thank you, Go Minnesota,
Kelly

Fantacy Football Draft (Finally)

REWIND to Sunday night!
And Play...Okay wait, Rewind a bit further that way you get the history that leads to Sunday night. Okay Play for real now.

BJ and I are sitting around one night on the couch, surprise surprise. We start talking about our Fantasy football league that we have done the last couple of years. This year there were a bunch of the old group that is not around here as much, so we were thinking about doing a league with just our family. We start counting it out on our finger and realized we could have the perfect number of family members for a league. Between my family and BJ's family it would be awsome.

Fast forward (dude if I could figure out how to do those little arrow things that would be awesome). Play, again.

Sunday night the majority of us meet up at BJ's parents. Now FF has been around for several years now and I was surprised to learn that out of the 10 teams, 11 people, we were there were only three of us that had ever done this before. So we had to walk people through on how this was all going to go, some people enjoy making things more technical than they need to be and that is why I feel the need to help explain. I figure if I can explain it, you should be able to follow. We had the 8 teams at Bill and Mary's, my brother was on Facebook messenger with me and BJ was on Facebook messenger with his brother. We drew # in alphabetical order, Brett ended up with number one. The rest of us get our numbers and we all sit down to fill our teams. After each pick BJ and I both have to send the info to our brothers so they can keep track of everything. After three hours, we all had a full team, my step-mom was mad at my dad for taking the player from her old school, my sister had drafted a guy that graduated with our brother and she went to college with, I did not have Adrian Peterson, but I did get my staple FF player, nobody had yelled at anyone, and we were ready to go with some quick smack talk to each other. This league will be interesting, Good luck to the family and whoever is the winner gets to smack talk the rest of the year.

GOLF

I decided on my way to work today that I would like to learn how to golf...Actually I know how to golf, I just don't do it very well. So correction, I would like to go golfing and not have lots of people sooo annoyed at me for being on the 3rd hole tee and hitting my ball onto the 8th hole green. Or being the person that shoots a 200 on 9 holes. I think most of the people on the golf course would get over the stupid girl that doesn't know how to golf and is waisting all their time, but my hubby would have the most difficulty with it. I thought up a social story to help with this situation.

My name is BJ. I love my wife.
I wish my wife was more into playing sports. I would be willing to teach her sports.
Sometimes people do not pick sports quickly like me.I need to have lots and lots and lots of patients with my wife. I love my wife very much.
I know that my wife tries hard to hit the ball where I tell her to, but I know it will never go in that direction.
I understand that sometimes playing something means that you don't have to be good at it.
I love my wife.I'm glad she tries. Next time maybe we will just go mini golfing.

Oh and no worries about being stuck behind me on the golf course, I don't even have clubs.

FINALLY

First of all...made some changes to the blog can you tell??? Do you like?

Second of all...So flipping glad the Blackhawks won last night. For many reasons. Mainly because, a sport that mainly involves ICE should not last longer than the Ice caps themselves. Second, I enjoy the fact that now IN MID JUNE we can finally start enjoying baseball (mind you my team isn't doing so well) but either way. And now that they FINALLY won the Stanly Cup I can now talk about it. It was getting a bit "inconvenient" for our family. I mean really, we have to be in by 7:00 to watch the puck drop every 2-3 days. However, it was nice to have nap time between periods one and three. Plus now that this is all done, I can finally list my car and get it sold. Just because we have to be more open to sell it. Yippy!

Tell me the truth though, do you like this layout/background or should I go back the other way? I don't know

Bears game

Today was Elijah's first tailgating experience, and B.J.'s third Bear's game. Here's how the day went.

So BJ was out way late last night DJ a wedding. I think he got home some where between 2 and 2:30 when Elijah decided he was hungry. While I fed the baby BJ fell fast asleep. At 5 Eli woke up again and wanted more food. As I was feeding him he had a HUGE explosive dipper. Now typically in that state of mind (sleepy that is) I would call for BJ to come help me clean it up. However, I felt sorry for him since I had an extra 3 hours of sleep I figured I could probably figure it all out without him. I then preceded to not dress Elijah in fear that he would ruin his nicely planned out outfit for the day. After showering and getting dressed I woke up BJ at 6. We finished getting ready and left the house (about 5 min. after I really wanted too but not to bad) heading to my co-workers parents house to start the day. On the way there, BJ and I had a brain fart and turned the wrong way for about 5 min. before I realized we were going the wrong way.

Once on the Bears bus Elijah fell back asleep and we picked up my co-workers brother and nephew (age 4) who was sooo super excited about going to a Bears game he was off the walls. We got down to Chicago about 8:15 and started to cook. We had waffliges for breakfast (waffles with a sausage patty in the middle of them) followed by some type of delicious sandwich for lunch. Then everyone beside Elijah and I left for the game. Eli and I got on the bus turned on the T.V. and watched the pre-game while dogging the bees that were stuck in the bus and pissed about it all while feeding Elijah. Eventually we both fell asleep for a nice afternoon nap. I found it funny that even though we were watching the game live I could hear the stadium noise about 30 seconds to a minute before anything would happen on T.V. so it gave me time to prep Elijah for horns honking before they honked.

Everyone returned to the bus around 3, 3:30ish when the drunk lady from the bus next to us came on and was about to eat Elijah if I would have let her. We hung out for a bit longer then packed up and left the parking lot around 4:30 where we promptly got stuck in traffic. Elijah was good for most the ride home until about 6:15 when he decided he was really hungry and had blown out another dipper.
Over all great day, I enjoyed my nap on the bus during the second half and I got to eat great food, B.J. had a great time at the game and loved the food, and Elijah was a good boy and got plenty of attention all day long.

I won!

I won, I won! That isI won my fantasy football league this week. I'm excited but I don't' know if I totally like this whole fantasy thing. It's one thing to join a sports thing when you are really into sports and competitive and all and another to join one just for fun. When you choose to join something like this you need to make sure that everyone else in the group is joining for the same reason. When everyone but you is super competitive and can spew sports trivia when they are half asleep, you should not join just for fun. In other words, its hard for me to enjoy the fantasy Football thing because BJ takes it sooooo seriously that I feel I should also take it seriously, however, I don't know what the heck I'm doing. Then I feel defeat before I even begin because the week previous my teams scored half as much as everyone else's team, so why even try. And if I wanted to try how do I go about doing so? I just don't know. Then if I ask for help my whole team is taken over and run for me. I don't know what questions to ask, or how to make my sucky team better, or who to play because it's always my luck that the people I chose to play don't do anything and the ones on my bench score more that the ones playing but I dosn't count cuz they are on the bench. GRRR its a bit frustrating. I just think this could be a very long football season. OHH and now that I have these players I can't just watch football and cheer for the team with the best colors, cuz when I do that BJ is always like, no you don't want to cheer for them cuz you have a guy on the other team. Well now the little bit of football that I liked I am not allowed to like cuz then I just cheer myself to lose. Ahh thanks for listening.

Husband vs. Wife

First- I lost my first football game. Sad. But more to come.
Second- Husband wins! Sad again. Many of you are probably wondering why were the husband and wife dueling? Well let me draw you a picture.

It all started many many months ago. Some time around December of 2005. The husband and I (then not husband) decided to go and register. Yes register. While out we started to get distracted and started registering for odd items. One of which was DDR (Dance Dance Revolution). And one of my delightful co-works went ahead and crossed the formal wedding present line and gave it to us for a wedding gift. Now fast forward to last night and I decided it was time to test out our skills. So off came the shoes off came a sock and whap. Elmo sock across the face followed by I challenge you to a duel! After a little trash talk and everyone in there protective and competitive gear. We plug in the floor mats (one that we bought separately sucks) and we go at it. End result Wife sucks, Husband rules and that is that.

Hut-Hut- Dumb Luck

I would like to introduce to the world the beginning of Dumb Luck fantasy football team. Head coach Kelly, assistant coach Kelly, and special teams coach Kelly. That's right folks, I have decided to have my own fantasy team. I named it Dumb Luck because if I win anything it is strickly because of that. I do not follow football much, I watch it because The men in Spandex look great and sometimes they do fun stuff. Other than that I couldn't tell you much about it. And this is my Logo.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi. I have missed blogging but these 10 plus hour days really make me sleepy. By the time I get home at the end of the day I am ready to go right to bed. BJ and I are going to try and work together and remind each other to blog more. I mean come on we are newly weds we should have a whole lot to write about.

I went Ice Skating

This weekend BJ and I went ice skating at the local rink, and I didn't even fall!! We must have been in the Olympic spirit because on Friday we watched the opening ceremonies. I have been busy the last few weeks as you can tell by my lack of blogging. I have been jumping around and I don't always like to bring my computer everywhere I go. I also have been busting my butt studying which I know is kinda a boring life but I really don't want to take this test over again so I'll be a nerd for a month then stop. I have really been getting into my job but I would be having so much more fun if I was getting paid. Even just a little bit. So yeah that's my life lately. Sorry no witty comments about life. The witty things come when I blog more often.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Sugar Plums and sweet stuff

As I sit in front of my computer at 11:00 at night I think to my self. This is stupid, I could so be going to bed right now and getting some sleep. However, due to my stupid obsession with my boyfriend I think I should sit up and wait for the last 2 minutes of a football game to conclude so I could talk to him for just a bit. But I shouldn't blame it all on him, I mean I am living in Wisconsin and can't stand the Green Bay Packers so I guess I wouldn't really mind if they lost. I always hate the last 2 minutes of a football game because they seem to last FOREVER. The coaches have this strategy of saving all their timeouts so they can drag out the agony of a loss or try and throw the other team off by stopping and starting over and over again.

Well GO Vikings, I hope you win so the game is over. I think I might cry if it goes into over time.

World Champs

Wahoo! Last night the guys in black swept the Astros gaining their first World Series Championship in 88 years. Let's just say it makes me proud to be from Chicago. I did, however, fall asleep for a bit of the game. But, luckily BJ gave me a call to wake me up so I could watch the end of the ninth. The Sox won 1-0 with the only run scored in the eight inning. I was almost certain it was going to go into extra innings and I would have to stay up and watch them all. I guess their motto worked "Win or Die trying" and nobody died! I only wish I was back in the Chicago area to celebrate, just because nobody around here really cares about the White Sox. Oh well.

On another note, my dad is coming up to visit me this weekend and I am super excited!

Time to get back to work. Later!

What an awesome Weekend

I was home this weekend for a bunch of things. First, I had a meeting with my future externship supervisor. I loved her and her case load is incredible, she has the little itty bitty kids, so cute. Then I went to the eye doctor and got some contacts. Ever since I sat on my glasses they just haven't been the same so now I don't have to wear them as much. It has definitely been interesting getting used to poking myself in the eye, and actually has created some interesting experiences like me losing one of my contacts this morning but finding it 15 min. Later. Go figure. Any way, Friday night BJ and I went out to dinner like grown ups, it's fun to pretend to be a grown up some times. Saturday there were family pictures with my mom's family then we went to lunch together. Since my dad and Kelly went to see Tom at Truman it was just Megan, Jasiman, and me chilling for the most of Saturday. Then grandma came over to make cheese cake with Megan. Saturday night BJ and I watched part of the White Sox game (I can only watch when they are winning because I get to stressed out when it is a close game so we channel surffed for a while.) They had a great game and won!!! Then on Sunday it was church, quick stop by work, and lunch with mom then home again, home again jiggity jig. Did all the homework that I didn't do over the weekend and watched the Sox Win AGAIN AWESOME!!!!! Oh yeah, and nice job to the Minn. Vikings for not losing to the Packers. So that was my fun weekend, what did you do?

Oops! I forgot about Saturday

Well now were on to Saturday. Well we woke up way early to get a good start on the day and plus BJ's first game was at 8 so we had to be up and at the field by then anyway. Well let me just tell you how incredibly lost we were on our way to the softball fields. There were three cars all following each other assuming that the lead car knew where we were going. BAD ASSUMPTION!!! Yeah we did so many U-turns I'm surprised nobody threw up from dizziness. Now the majority of you know the happy go lucky BJ, but very few of you know the pissy BJ. Let me just tell you at 7:15 in the morning late for a softball game BJ gets a little cranky. So we finally get to the fields with about 10 till 8, and of course we park the furthest distance from the fields. Now if not one cranky softball player wasn't enough we now have 5 cranky softball players all speed walking to the fields. Well it just went from bad to worse because once we were at the fields the team realized that there were only seven men present out of the 13 who said they were going and 9 needed to field a team. Oh man, just back away slowly is the only advice I can give in a situation like that. So yes the team had to forfeit their first game due to lack of men. Well due to the loss we had to go to a different set of fields to play the next game, and had 4 hours to get enough men so they could at least play. Some how they recruited two guys from a skate park to play and had one guy come up with his kids from an hour and a half away. Things were looking better, that is until they lost by sloder rule in the fifth inning eliminating them from the tournament. The real kick in the pants for poor BJ was that the other team BJ could have gone to state with placed 7th. BJ was bummed to say the least.

PS I have no idea who these people are I just thought it showed the way BJ felt by the end of the softball tournament.

Kelly the Snake

HELP ME!!!!! My face is shedding its skin! So last weekend when I burnt myself on the boat my face got the worst of it. Now tell me what is more disgusting than having your entire face peel. I feel like where ever I am, I am leaving parts of me behind. I also have to say that I am glad I do not work in the food service industry because I would have to call in sick due to the inability to work. All in all I have learned the importance of sunscreen.

Well BJ and I are off for a fun and exciting weekend in Rockford, IL for the state softball tournament. I hope BJ doesn't hurt himself and I hope I don't get too board. Before we go we are stopping at the gem and jewelry show to poke around to see if BJ sees any good deals.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Well since last time I wrote it seems like I have been constantly on the go. Saturday night BJ, my dad, Kelly and I all went to a comedy club in Joliet. Then Sunday Mom, Sonny, BJ and I went up the chain of lakes with the boat and spent some time around there. That was a fun time, I got to see an Ice Cream Float, and a Hot dog floating house. We ate at both so now I can say I have eaten hot dogs and ice cream from floating food stands. BJ was even daring enough to go tubing but I decided the water was too choppy so I just watched in the boat. I, however, burnt my face and chest so bad it hurts to smile or make any facial expressions for that matter.

Then last night was BJ's last Monday night softball game. They lost but BJ had some good plays. BJ's niece and nephews were really cute last night too.

Well tonight is my dreaded shift from 1-11 with the possibility of going to 12. I can't wait to see what kind of crazy people I will get to register today. I only have 3 more days of work and less than two weeks before I have to go back to school.

Softball

Okay so yesterday I was playing the good girlfriend/fiance card and went to watch BJ play softball. Now this year BJ has decided to play on two softball teams. Well in all previous years when BJ has played on only one team he manages to injure himself and whine and complain about it for the rest of the season. (I love you BJ don't get mad at me) Therefore, we made a deal that if he gets hurt playing softball he would stop for the rest of the season and recover. So anyway this year he has played the whole summer and managed to not get hurt it's amazing. However, there was last night. I watched him take more face dives into the grass and trip over bases then I have ever seen. It was like his whole coordination for softball was lost cuz I was there. Well after several bruises and grass stains the game was over and he refused to be injured. Even though he had a bruise on his wrist that looked like it hurt he was a good boy and didn't complain about it. Awww he is so tough!!!

Bat Dog and My Foot

Well for the next few weeks it looks like I will be posting in the morning or the afternoon because I seem to get busy at night or I'm just plan to tired to deal with the computer.

Yesterday we went to the Kane County Cougars game (a farm team for baseball). BJ and I had a ton of fun and it was Jake the bat dog day. He was really cute. Every so often he would run out on the field and collect the bat left behind by the latest hitter. He also brought a basket of water out to the umpire's during every inning so they wouldn't die from the heat. All in all it was a fun day until it came time to leave.

As BJ and I were heading out I wasn't paying attention and neither was this other guy and we ran into each other at full speed. At first I felt bad because the impact made him drop his newly acquired beer but then I noticed that he broke all my toe nails on my right foot along with braking my pinky toe. Now the only reason I know what a broken toe feels like is because my little bother several years ago chased me into a wall breaking my little toe on my left foot. So now I have a pretty purple toe wrapped in tape for the next six weeks or until I can walk normally again. Wearing heals the next few weeks should certainly be interesting especially with this wedding coming up on Saturday.
