Message from beyond

I'm not one much to believe in ghosts and being contacted from people who are no longer living, but sometimes the signs are just so obvious I can't help but acknowledge them.  I have also been reading a book titled "Heaven is for Real."  I don't know if the whole book is real but I like to think it is, plus it also gives you a better idea of what the unknown is.  So needless to say it has had me thinking a lot lately about heaven.  As we were going into BJ's surgery I told him that if he goes to Heaven while he is is in surgery to say hi to family and friends that are there.  We smiled about it and BJ told me the people he really wanted to see if he could.  We were the first ones scheduled for surgery that day and at 6:30 in the morning we walk into the surgery center.  When we opened the door to the center a perfect monarch butterfly fell out of the door.  BJ and I just looked at each other and smiled.  Reason being, his grandma loved butterflies and is remembered by butterflies.  We thought it was a nice way to let us know that his grandma was with BJ during his surgery.

Bugs

I don’t like bugs.  I don’t like them in my house especially.  I can deal with them when they are outside but inside, not so much.  Lately we have had a HUGE ant issue in our house.  Since we live on a concrete slab they can get through the cracks and get into the house.  Well I don’t know the way ant brains work but apparently like teen age women, they travel in packs of 3 or 4.  They never travel farther than several millimeters apart but where you see one, you will be able to find 3 or three more.  What’s real weird is that they are in the middle of a wall, not at the door.  Why can’t the bugs just use the door?   Now I have to spray the entire house.  Boo to ants.

Spider...

I don't know where Elijah heard this from but he loves spiders (in books).  I recently just bought Elijah 3 new Halloween books to read before bed, and his favorite pages are the ones with spiders on it.  It even got really cute when he started saying pider...or piduh as it came out most of the time.  Then a day or two ago it turned into deedi like most things in his life.  We get about a week out of a word, then it disappears for a while then it comes back.

I am not going to lie, one of the things I was looking forward to about being a parent is that I would "train" my child to kill those big, scary spiders in our house.  But I would need a way to introduce the things to my kid without freaking out.  Turns out books are the way.

Unfortunately the plan sorta backfired.  See Elijah became obsessed with spiders.  That's all he would look for. In fact, I think the spiders replaced the geese.  So today while I'm getting ready to leave, I hear Elijah's spider.  I get super freaked out thinking how will I kill it, make it look fun and encourage Elijah to do the next one.  Turns out the "spider" was really a mosquito eater, however, when your just about 16 months old they look the same.  I went over and bent down to show Elijah he could get close to it and it would be okay, so Elijah squatted down next to me and got real close, but not to close.  (Actually very cute looking)  I kept putting my foot over the bug and tried to get E to do the same.  When he did he actually stepped on it.  When he moved his foot he got upset because, the bug/spider was gone.  I mean really upset.  He refused to move to go to school until the spider came back.  Yeah that I can't do.

Guess, I have to wait a couple more months before I can convince Elijah to save me from the spiders.  BOOOO!!

It's started!!

Two more spiders died today.  One got away... I wasn't wearing shoes and neather was my co-worker.  When I went back a bit later, it was gone.  All three of the spiders today were of a different kind.  I mean really typically you only see one or two different types of spiders in one place not here, it's crazy.  I can't wait until the weather is done changing and all the in door spiders have died.

On another note, this week has been awesome with all the new shows starting.  However, I really wish the good ones like Big Bang Theory would be on later than it is because that is Elijah's bed time.  I also feel the need to watch all the TV because we do not have TiVo like he rest of the world and I don't know what shows are going to be on onDemand, you know the poor man's TiVo.  I spend to much time in front of the TV, however, I blog while I watch so it's a win for you.

Last on my list tonight, I'm very warm.  It was 90 here today and now my computer is as hot as the sun. Oh and happy 15 months Elijah.  Sorry about the big bump on your head right before bed.

Spiders!!

I have only worked at my new job for about 4 weeks now.  In that time the weather has begun to change and all those creepy crawly animals have begun to make there way to the warm areas...AKA where I work.  I have seen at least 5 different types of spiders oh wait 6, I saw three just today.  And they all try to kill me...  They wait until the best moment when I'm not paying much attention to anything and BAMM they show up on my paper that I'm signing, or start crawling on the wall right next to me, or best yet stand in the middle of the floor so I have to go get someone to kill them so I can pass.  I don't know if these things think they are like the 3 Billy Goats Gruff but let me just tell you Billy Spiders Gruff... 5 of you have been killed and the 6th one will be dead tomorrow if I find you.  Most of the time I have to bribe the office manager to kill them for me.  I hate the things.

The coming of spring

As I go about the day I think about a million different idea's that I can blog about. Then I sit down to actually blog and Wooosh, All gone. Now I am just drawing a blank. UHHHHHH (can you hear the crickets??)
Hold on, Pause, I have to put the laundry in the dryer...

OO...I know what I want to blog about. It came to me while I was doing the laundry. Here it goes... THE COMING OF SPRING

Yes I know that it is only the 13th of March and there is still the possibility of one last snow storm. But still...It is feeling more like spring everyday. In fact, I wore my flip flops last weekend and I have spotted the first bugs of the season. It was fantastic! Let me tell you about what I have accomplished this spring.
1. Spring cleaning, I have cleaned the house top to bottom. I got rid of old clothes, washed the bedding and the winter coats.
2. Exposed my toes to the world. I wore my flip flops as a test day, then I decided it went good so I went to Spa Okel and did my toes last night. Now my toes are ready for the warm weather.
3. Took the dog out. Rescue got her come of the season walk.
4. New clothes for the boy! I love that we have friends that hare a little boy to send us their hand me downs for Elijah. (By the way Carissa, Thanks for the clothes).
5. Rescue caught her first spring house spider. I came around the corner today and Rescue was crouched on the stairs and my first thought was she was doing something naughty, then I saw the darn bug. She ate it, it was all good.
6. The birds are out. The first bird I saw was the ducks in the back yard swimming/walking around the construction area. And yes from a very far distance and with my bad eyes the female duck looks like a quail, hence my expedition to go photograph the quail. Then I saw a robin today, and a dove scared the crap out of me that tried to live in our window above our door.
7. Daylight savings time. I spent the day trying to start Elijah on the new schedule by cutting his afternoon nap short and skipping a bottle today. Let's see how tomorrow goes for us.

I love spring because it means summer is just around the corner!!! Come on summer push your way through to me.

It will have to wait

Last night I was getting all ready to post on my nativity sets that I have and that I get so excited about at Christmas when a giant spider shot out from under the couch that I was sitting on and went strait for my pump. I started freaking out, and go figure the dog was all the way upstairs sleeping on the bed, so it took her about forever to get down stairs. Now just for the record, this spider was smaller than the one found back in October by the back door, but this one had some sort of caffeine in it's system. I don't think I have ever seen a spider go so fast. It was crazy. I actually think that is what scared me most about this spider. Well Rescue came down and was all ready to play...with me. She had no clue about the spider. Since it had made it's way to the pump I had no idea where it was hiding so i just started staring at the pump thinking that would get the bug to leave it. Well if finally did but it ran out to the middle of the room then turned around and went right back to where it came from. I was freaked out and mad at the darn bug. I was also on the phone and trying to have a real conversation but I could only half concentrate. Then it was gone for a bit. Then it showed up again on the wall and was making it's way toward the ceiling. This is when BJ suggested through text message that I get the neighbor to kill it. I felt bad asking the neighbor to do it, and by this time it was on the ceiling. Way far away from me. Well, he must have asked for me, because about 5 minutes later there was a knock on the door and as I answer it I realize the spider is completely gone. We looked everywhere. For someone who was keeping her eyes glued to the bug to make sure it didn't eat me, it really un-nerved me to think it could have been anywhere. Jon left and about 10 min. later the spider reapplied, however, it had trapped me into the living room. After I had seen how fast it ran I was not about to go anywhere with in 2 feet of it and to get out of the living room I would have had to do that. So you ask, how did you get out? Oh yeah, I jumped over the back of the couch, and texted Jon to come back and kill it. He did, and I still had to do the hebi gebi dance. Blah. But at least I was able to sleep last night without having to worry about the spider getting me.

Post to come:
Nativity sets/Christmas village
Happy birthday plants
Wrapping paper invention.

Creapy crawly

So I was going to post about a really stupid program called "my baby can read." But God decided to give me something else to post about. All I have to say about this program is that if any one of you how have children buy this program to teach your child to read before the age of 3. I will come over to your house steal the program and scold you for it. GRRR stupid.

Anyway. So in two days there have been two giant spiders in our house. They were both found in the same spot in the house and it really has me thinking where these things are living when we don't see them. And what in Gods name are they eating to get so darn big. Since living in this house we have had a total of 5 of these giant spiders. Let me tell you about all of them.

So the first one was in the laundry room probably about a year ago. I was moving the wet clothes from the washer to the drier when a giant spider ran out from under the drier and hid under a tub. I promptly ran out of the laundry room and made BJ go kill it. He laughing at me was like "it's probably only a little thing." Not even 30 seconds after he went in to the laundry room I heard "ahhh, Oh dear God" then WHAP "he's dead, that was disgusting." Yeah see when I say monster spider I mean it.

The second on BJ found it tried to hide behind the refrigerator. BJ calmed this second one was bigger than the first and actually moved the refrigerator to kill it. But, being so big he didn't want to squish is so he sucked it up with the vacuum. This actually didn't kill it so he took the vacuum canister outside where he squashed it.

The third was when I was pregnant and wasn't sleeping. I would come downstairs after an hour of tossing and turning. But typically I would not turn on any lights hoping that I would be able to fall asleep eventually. This night I decided to turn on a light when I went into the kitchen for some odd reason saw a giant spider staring back at me right where I would have walked. Well seeing as it was about 4 am I didn't want to wake up BJ I decided to try to capture it. I have caught a couple of spiders in shot glasses (and now a days that the only use for our shot glasses) but this one's body was as big as the glass opening. I though about a regular glass, but, its legs were so long that I would probably touch one of them and it would take off running. Totally not what I wanted to happen. So I finally found a giant Tupperware and threw it from as far as possible to keep him there. When BJ woke up he was surprised I was brave enough to get that close to it.

The forth one was yesterday. Rescue was playing bug hunter and had stalked a smaller spider to the patio door and had got it a couple of times but kept spitting it out. So I helped her and kept moving the rug hat the spider was crawling under so she could eat it. She finished her spider and I was praising her for it when I saw the giant one. I started screaming because BJ just went into the garage. He actually heard me on the complete other side of the house. He came in and killed it.

The fifth one was tonight same spot as last night. But, of course I found it after BJ took Elijah up to bed so I had to stay in the kitchen watching it in case it decided to try and hide from us.

I hate spiders! They are worse than rodents because they have lots more legs. Eww.

The Noisy Bug

The weather has been real nice here lately. To a point that at night we keep our windows open and turn off the air conditioner. The first night was wonderful except for this really, really, really, obnoxious bug living some where out side of our window. It is hard to describe the noise it was making but it sounded some what like a motorcycle and static. It was to a point that BJ and I actually looked at each other and debated closing the windows but we couldn't hear each other. At that point we decided, at least it was a constant buzzing noise we could sleep through that. However, as soon as we decided that the bug decided to start communicating with all of the other bug world using Morris code. Some how, probably due to the fact that we were exhausted, we fell asleep. Last night, forgetting about the night before, we opened the windows again. There was that dang bug again waiting for us buzzing. Again we fell asleep.

Now lately, when I am left to my own power to entertain myself I create weird questions and try to think of the answers. This bug has made me start thinking. First, I want to know what he looks like. Could he be a grasshopper? We have giant ones around here but I don't know if they make noise or not. And secondly, I have begun to realize that since being a parent any little bit of sleep I can get I take. At all cost. Sorry bug you are not going to be keeping me awake at night. And if you think using Morris code to call all your other bug friends to come help you keep us awake. Keep trying. Tonight I will be sleeping bug or no bug. Good night.

Phobias

So the past two days I have had some thoughts/ incidences that got be thinking about how weird phobias are. Most people know that I am afraid of spiders but I am also afraid of needles. But have you ever thought about phobias? They are just weird, the whole anxious feeling and sweatiness, or nausiousness. I have a friend who has a phobia of hair, that is not attached to a body. But the question is, what do you do when you HAVE to confront your phobia? Like if you have to kill a bug and you don't like bugs. Do you do the ew gross dance? You know when you stand like 3 feet away with the tissue in your hand and do lunges to work your way up to killing it. You count to three then you squish it and throw the tissue on the ground while you hop around with your eyes closed and shaking your hands saying ew, ew, ew, ew. Then you stop and look at the tissue and decide you should probably step on it several times just to make sure it is dead. But with all the commotion you forget where the bug was exaclty in the tissue so you have to do inny-minny-miney-moe to decide what corner you should pick up that is furthest away from the bug. Then you have to run it as fast as you can to the garbage just in case it wasn't killed the first few times you stepped on it and all. Man that's a lot of work just to kill something so small. So, I ask again, What is your phobia and what do you do to get over it?

Chicago!

Well yesterday, bum foot and all, BJ, his parents and I all went down to the great city of Chicago for a lunch cruise. It was so much fun. It was just a bit rainy but the food and the view were just amazing. I posted some pictures from the boat ride. Oh and since I am so horribly frightened of spiders one decided to join us on the boat, yep that one in the picture. I have to honestly say that was the largest spider I have ever seen and he kept climbing all over the window. For about 15 min. I could only look to my right so I couldn't see this massive thing wanting to eat me. It then started to rain so I think he drowned and I was safe from the spider. After the cruise we went down to the shopping area and I bought a few more Christmas presents and I found a cute looking leprechaun that I took home. I love Chicago it has everything you are looking for. Later that night BJ and I decided to go and see Charlie and The chocolate Factory. WEIRD but really good. Oh there is also a new movie coming out which I have forgotten the name but its about cows and farm animals and I almost peed my pants during the preview so WE are so going to that movie!!!!

well in the words of the Seven Dwarfs "Its off to work I go (whistle, whisle, whistle.) It will be a few days before I post again, I have work, and a wedding tomorrow, then church and work on Sunday. LATER
