Moving Forward

I am real sure that no matter how hard people have tried, no one has ever been able to change things that have happened in the past.  Now if I am wrong I would love to know the secret, because there are several things that I wish I could have done differently or not said or have not done.  With the understanding that you can only change what happens in the future, and even that you only have so much control over, I am going to go into the new year with some goals/resolutions, it always helps to have them semi public so I can look back a them.

1. Increase the healthy aspects in my life and decrease the not so great one.  Eat better, and become more active are up there on the list, but also say no to the yummy sweets and junk that magically shows up in the staff room at work.

2. Make my lunch (the night before) more frequently.  I really shouldn't be eating out as much as I do.

3. Spend 15-30 minutes after the kids go to sleep 4 nights a week to pick up the house so it doesn't become so over whelming.

Yeah we will see how that goes.  I will let you know.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2012. We made it through last year even though the end of the world was supposed to happen about 3 times.  Well as we all know 12-12-12 is supposed to be the end of the world, so lets hope we see 2013.  If we don't I'll see you on the other side.  But if we do make it to 2013 I do have a couple of resolutions that need to be met before then.  I think our 10 from last year was a bit much.  This year we will:

Save Money
Have fun
Be secure
Be small

Resolutions of 2011


With the end of 2011 I am sure you want to know exactly how I did on my Resolutions for the past year.  So here we go...

Blog more (than 2010) Nope.  Didn't get this one done.  I blame it on my new work hours. 

Eat less (sugar), Sort of.
Clean more (during the week), YES! Again blame it on my new work hours but still a yes!
Watch TV less (decrease # of shows I follow), Again yes! I know I'm kinda awesome.  DVR helps a lot.
Save more ($$), NOPE.  Guess we will work on that again next year.
Weigh less (than ???), Definitely yes.  down 10 pounds from last year.  Wahoo.
Work hard (at work) Certainly feels like it.
Play harder (at home and on the weekend) Yes.  I love my family and we have had a lot of fun together this past year on the weekend.
Read more (books) HAHAHA, enough said.
Clean car (inside and out) Better than 2010 but still not the best.

Resolution update #3

Because I know you are all wondering.  I know how you think.  LOL

Blog more (than 2010)- In order to do so I need to blog over 43 times between now and the end of December.  We will see.  I'm not very positive on this end though due to my crazy smart phone.

Eat less (sugar)-I was doing really well with this until Halloween, however, now were not doing awesome on this.  I am eating less though.
Clean more (during the week)- Yeah not really, but with my hours changing I may be doing more cleaning on Wednesday.  But we will see.
Watch TV less (decrease # of shows I follow)- HAHA, I have no clue.  Now with DVR I probably watch more shows but there are so many that we tape it's like we have excess for when we go through that time of year with no new TV on.  We will watch older stuff instead of crap.
Save more ($$)- NOPE!  Let me introduce to you deductibles, and life and all other awesome things that cost money. 
Weigh less (than ???)- Check done, I'm awesome!
Work hard (at work)- Yeah, That I am.  So hard I have no nights at home with my little boy.  Not happy about that and I hope that will change soon, but not going to hold my breath.
Play harder (at home and on the weekend)- I think so.  I have had an awesome year with all we have done with Elijah.  No regrets.
Read more (books)- Nope
Clean car (inside and out)- Sort of.  Getting better.  I think.

Resolution update #2

Blog more (than 2010): Yup, Still up by 4, wait make that 5 blogs up through the end of this month.  I know, You're probably thinking if you keep slacking like this you will break your resolution.  I'm getting back to blogging after crazy birthday season is over. 
Eat less (sugar): Check.  Now that I have a new phone I can actually track the amount of sugar I eat daily.  I do believe I am eating less sugar even before I had my new phone.  I was real good and only eating one bite or one small piece of candy/dessert.  I'm not really even craving it as much.  But I still love it.
Clean more (during the week): NOPE.  I like to sleep and relax.  Not clean.
Watch TV less (decrease # of shows I follow): Yes.  Since getting a DVR, we record shows that we really want to watch when we are busy taking care of life and then when there are things that are not on, we watch what is already recorded.  I defiantly think I watch less TV. 
Save more ($$): Still working on that.  I still have 6 months right????
Weigh less (than ???):  YES!  Down almost 5 pounds from my heaviest weight.  How?  You ask, not by exercising.  I like to relax at the end of my day and when I get home at 7:30 two nights a week by the time I eat dinner and get Elijah to bed it is 8:30.  Then it's my bed time.  But my new phone app allows me to watch my caloric intake right down to proteins, sugars, and vitamins.
Work hard (at work):  YES, My caseload on the books is over 60% accuracy.  Wahoo!  Go Me.
Play harder (at home and on the weekend):  Yup, Every weekend we have another fun event planned.  We are spending lots of our evenings outside in our driveway with our neighbors.  Elijah runs up and down with Cole and all the grown-ups sit around and gossip about the rest f the neighborhood. 
Read more (books): been on a reading drought lately.  Recently just started Book Six of Harry Potter, after about 100 pages in I wished I would have started at book 1 but I don't think I have enough time before I want to see the last movie.  Oh well, at least I am liking the reading. 
Clean car (inside and out): Yeah no.

I think I'm doing better now.  I just need to stay on track even more for the the last half of they year.

Resolution update.

New Years Resolution update!!  Let's see how I am doing so far.  I know there is still many area's that need improvement and I'm not giving up on them until at least June. 

Blog more (than 2010): So far so good.  I have more blog post in both January and February of 2011 than I did in 2010 for each of the months.  Starting out strong!!!
Eat less (sugar): Yeah, about this...How about we just move on to the next one.
Clean more (during the week): Um... keep moving.
Watch TV less (decrease # of shows I follow): This one I think will start more once the summer comes and the weekly shows we watch go away.  BJ and I are also looking to change our cable provider to save us over $50 a month on our phone, Internet, and TV and we would get a DVR.  In my head I would then watch less TV because I would record the shows that I would really want to see and instead of starting a new show when nothing else was on I would watch one that was recorded at a time that I could not sit down and watch it.
Save more ($$): Yeah, Nope.  BUUUUUUT we recently just bought some new furniture for practically free.  I have recently decided that all our credit card points are going toward things that I want to save.  Therefore, once our bedroom set is complete I will put the money in saving for a vacation or our next house or who knows. 
Weigh less (than ???): Alright who's idea was this, I guess I'm not doing as well as I had thought towards my resolutions.
Work hard (at work): Doing great.  I love my job, I love making a difference in the kids lives but also helping the company grow.
Play harder (at home and on the weekend): Doing well with this too.  Just hang out with my son, he will show you how we play for a while he will show you what he has learned.  BJ and I have also been out and about around town doing fun things with family and friends as well. 
Read more (books): It is starting to  ramp back up.  I am making more time to reading and getting in to a book now and I think I will re-read the Harry Potter books next, before July when the movie is finally out.
Clean car (inside and out): Yeah no.

In summary:  I have made progress toward the goals that I have made for 2011, such as reading, working, playing, and blogging.  There continues to be areas in my life that I continue to need to place focus on for the next 10 months such as eating less, weighing less, cleaning more, and watching less TV.  If in about 2 months time we check in again this will keep me in check and hopefully have met most of my goals by 2012.

Things don't always turn out the way you plan

I had a wonderful Blog about how wonderful my Christmas was, how adorable my child is, and how I all around love my family and blah, blah, blah.  I uploaded all of the Christmas pictures on my camera to show you proof of all I say but then I went and killed my computer.  Apparently the computer was noticing how for the past month + the whole house has been sick.  Well in true family fashion BJ got the flu/bad cold the day before Christmas and on through Sunday.  On Monday he went to work even though he wasn't feeling great, my computer then caught it.  It then decided to refuse entry to the Internet.  Therefore, foiling my plans to share what I had wanted to share.  So instead I will give you my New Years resolutions.

In 2011 I will:
Blog more (than 2010),
Eat less (sugar),
Clean more (during the week),
Watch TV less (decrease # of shows I follow),
Save more ($$),
Weigh less (than ???),
Work hard (at work),
Play harder (at home and on the weekend),
Read more (books),
Clean car (inside and out)

And Happy 6 month birthday to ME!!!  Maybe soon I will get back to you about our Christmas!
