On a related note I'm almost done with my boat. I think I may need it soon.

Summer
Okay, well maybe not quite there yet but we are getting closer, I can feel it. Today it actually was up to 44 degrees, which according to the radio has been the first day since the end of January to be over freezing. Wahoo! I actually was excited for this week of weather, 40's all weekend rain on Thursday. Then next week it will be back to the 20s...all week. Boooo!
Wonder what snow looks like?
Well I'm not going to show you. If you want to see what snow looks like please go to Facebook and look at any and all people who live in any of the northern states. Also if you want to see the temp here open up your weather channel app and see for yourself. Instead I will show you my boys together on the couch watching dad race cars.

I love both my boys and my youngest boy loves his daddy. And my oldest boy loves his son.
P.S. Go Hawks!

Brrr
I think I have finally hit my breaking point. I am freezing! I can't feel my nose, or fingers, or toes. It just keeps getting colder. I am proud of myself at how long I have lasted but now I'm done. Done, done, done! Tomorrow is supposed to be another super cold day too. By this time I usually start my count down to warm weather, but I don't think it will ever stop so I can't start counting. Brrrr.

Snow day
What did I do on my snow day you ask? Oh you know some laundry, walk the dog in the ridiculous cold, wrote some IEP's, and lesson plan. I hate to say it but I'm bored. I really haven't been at work long enough to really need the day off. I did have BJ take the little man to daycare just because he would be bored out of his mind here and at school he has buddies to hang with.
I have to thank God thought, he decided to allow my body to accept the colds that were going around school. Saturday I was down for the count, stuffy, drippy, achy, and crabby. Now I'm just stuffy with a small side of coughy. This long weekend has really helped me recover without missing work. Could I have worked? Most definitely! Am I happy I could be germy, snotty, and gross in my own home? Yup!

Today is brought to you by the letter W.
All those sick of winter say "I," "I."
Seriously I am done with winter. We are having our second canceled school day third canceled work day tomorrow with another one pending for Tuesday. That adds four additional work days to the end of the school year. Four! And we haven't even begun February. And since our last away was before Memorial Day now we have to add almost the whole week of Memorial Day to work. Boo.
However, on a positive note the kiddy germs finally broke through my immune system of steel yesterday. I was one crabby mommy yesterday with a bit of congestion today. By Tuesday I'll be back to my old self with an extra day to rebuild my immune system. Fantastic!

I confess...
I said I wasn't going to do it but here it is!

Yeah you see that right feels like -42. I have, however, come to the conclusion that after -5 it all feels the same, COLD! I walked the dog both yesterday and today and yeah cold is cold, painful, and breath taking. I am very thankful for my warm home and faithful heater.
I also have to confess that on this semi snow day I sent my child to daycare so I could actually get work done. That being said I should probably stop blogging and start working!
I also let my dog poop in the street and didn't clean it up, I'm not planning on showering today, and I'm loving my peace and quiet!
Stay warm!

What do you do?
What dou you do when it is 10 degrees before wind chill, and there is 6 inches of snow on the ground, and your dog can only stand for 1 minute before her paws start to freeze but needs 5-10 to do her business?

Why you tape your child's baby mittens to her paws of course! Good thing we had two sets.
Poor thing hated it at first at least was able to stand the temp. long enough to get what she need done. I can't wait until Monday when the high for the day BEFORE wind chill will be -10! When did we move to the North Pole?

Sledding
With all the snow and a 2 and a half year old what a better time than to go sledding.
This is the reason why BJ and I had kids. It was so we could do cool kid things where there were other kids with out looking like the creepy people without kids. Being smart though I did not bring the camera because I did not want to kill it. Elijah loved sledding, other than the part where the snow got all in his face.
He wanted to stay for hours but seeing as BJ was the only one that was able to pull him up the hill we had to cut it short. We staged some pictures after we got home in the backyard. Even Resuce loved the snow. I think she found something under the snow becuase for about 5 minutes at a time. I almost thought she wsa going to stop breathing.
Snow!
Last Friday we had snow. Not something new for us in the northern Midwest, but none the less lots of snow in a short amount of time. I, however, was further away from home than normal going to a continuing education class. It took me about 45 minutes to get there around 8:00 and three and a half hours to get home. I drove at a top speed of 20 miles per hour and a low speed of about 5 miles per hour ON THE HIGHWAY. I found that with that much snow on the ground/road driving became a free for all and make the rules up as you go. For example, in a place I was real sure was only 3 lanes we were driving 4 wide, semi trucks would merge as they pleased, I saw 2 people stop one in the middle of the road to clear off their car, and if a lane wasn't clear you could drive in it if your car was really an SUV. Here are some pictures from my drive home when I reached a low low speed of almost stopped.

Finally, Snow
Today it snowed. It wasn't a surprise that it was coming they have been talking about it for the past week. It was supposed to start snowing Thursday morning and continue on through Friday. (I'll let you know if that part is true.) As I left for work today I felt like I was preparing for the end of the world. Then I realized the end of the world I wouldn't have to prepare, I don't need to take anything with me to heaven, but getting out the door today was a different story. Had to get Elijah in his coat and boots, grabbed his winter coat and snow pants, find a hat and set of mittens and get out the door. Once to the car, I had to get him in and buckled. I backed out of the driveway and realized I didn't have my hat or scarf, and I had to go back in. What could I have forgotten you ask? My ice scrapper, my rubber floor mats, but mainly just my ice scrapper. How did I clear the snow from my car after work today? Oh, well I used my fingers to scratch off the ice from the windows, but being short I couldn't reach most of the windshield.
Don't worry, it's in my car now. But the way the winter has been going so far it probably won't snow again until March. Now I'm prepared though.

If this is fall...
I'll keep it. Normally Fall is cloudy, gray, and cold. Not currently, it has been warm, with bright colorful leaves, sunny, and wonderful. I love this weather. It's like its early summer. Love it! I have the windows open, and the doors. I just can't be more happy with how the weather is.

Holly Hot Monday
Again, you will never here me COMPLAIN about the heat. But man is it HOT in Chicago. I am glad I have A/C and power to run that A/C. I am trying not to melt. I am trying to keep my flowers alive (the grass is past dead). I need to keep the baby cool as well as the dog. I feel sorry for BJ though since he doesn't have A/C in his car. But we have it in the house. And I love every moment of it.

I blame the sun
I figured out why I am slowing down on my blog entries. And since it is the longest day of the year, it fits. It's the sun's fault. I get off work any time between 5 and 7 Monday-Thursday and when I get home the sun is still up and shining as though it is only 3. So Since I know what is to come in several more months I feel that I should enjoy the time outside and have Elijah out there for a while. Then once we are out for a bit a neighbor or two or three or four comes home and we hang out even longer talking to them about their day, week, weekend, or the kids across the street. Then before we know it, it is 8 or so and we haven't even eaten dinner. So we get in and make dinner then have to put Elijah down to bed. By that time it is at least 8:30 and we need to do this or that and after I blink it is almost 10. And I haven't even turned on my computer to check mail or facebook, let alone blog. So, if the sun would not be up as long, I would blog more. Unfortunately, I know that from here on to December 21, I get to watch the sunlight get shorter and shorter. But on December 21, I get excited because each day gets longer and longer until today. Wahoo!

Reasons I love the Midwest
Humidity. I love it in the summer. To sit outside and pretend I am in a tropical area. But in the winter it gets so cold all the crazy bugs die and it makes you appreciate the humidity. Now most of my fellow Midwesterners do not appreciate the weather the way I do, however, it is okay. I like enough for at least 20 people. I don't care how my hair looks when I'm outside. I love the way the air smells when it's humid and the way the flowers bloom the size of Frisbees. I love sitting outside with a fire, or talking to the neighbors in the driveway. Humidity equals happy to me. Sorry to all of you who do not like, just keep in mind that during the dog days of summer we get sick of the heat and love winter up through the end of December then we all want the humidity back.

Stupid weather
It is supposed to get nice half way through April. IT IS DECEMBER!!! I am so sick of long pants, sweaters, 9 layers of clothing, and a coat. I am freezing all all the time. Due to the weather I am not very motivated to post. To sum up, we had a fantastic weekend and Palm Sunday dinner with the in laws. I'll post pics when I warm up.

Spring part II
As our grass is turning green I am noticing there are LARGE areas of our yard that have never in the course of 4 years been green. BJ and I pay a boat load for our association but every year our crappy yard looks the same. Dead. Now there are areas of our yard that are dead due to our dog. Those I fix every year. However, the front yard has never been touched. Every summer I love to walk around barefoot, however, those spots feel horrible on bare feet. Plus since I am an end unit, my house is the one I see and the one everyone of my neighbors see as we pull into the driveway. I have a strict rule that when I buy my next home the curb apple has to be there, it's not currently here. I ended up thinking I needed to rip up all the sod and just replant seed. BJ convinced me that we didn't need to do that, we just needed to ruff up the old stuff, and just rip up the really really bad parts. We then mixed two whole bags of dirt with seed and placed it on all the bad parts. Now every time we drive by the yard we give the grass seeds good mojo and tell them to grow, grow, grow. Now we have to pray that they don't blow away tonight in the crazy wind storm.

Spring is springing
It is April and the showers are showering, the grass is turning green, and the flowers are starting to break through the ground. With the weather turning warmer there are things that need to get taken care of. Such as my toes that still have the nail polish on them from the first of the year, shave my legs more than 2 times a week, get a tan, buy a swimsuit that hides my middle, and plan the yards flowers.

Finally!!!!!
It's here!!! Now I still don't think it's here to stay for a little while. I still say Tax Day is the marker.
Warm weather that is. I LOVE WARM WEATHER. I love humidity. I love sun. I love taking walks with the breeze on my arms. I love it all. Starting around January 5th I start counting the days until warm weather. I want to be pessimistic in my counting. It's better to be wrong and have more warm weather than expected than miscalculate and be stuck with more cold weather. I still think we will be having a couple more days of cold weather in the next few days but I love the taste that we are getting now. :)

He remembers!!!
Being 60 ish degrees today there were several things that happend that have not happend in a while. One of which looks like the grass is back out. Looks a bit brown but non-the-less it is back. I was able to see water on the retention pond (on top of the ice) as well as seagulls looking for fish (sorry they are still stuck below the ice.
Elijah was able to see GEESE again. It has been quite awhile since he has seen the geese but when we saw one this morning he was very excited and kept looking for more. When we got home we stood in our garage for almost 20 minutes calling to the geese and watching them fly over our house. When it got too dark and too cold to stay out there any longer we went in. I was very happy our child remembered what the things were after 5 months of no geese or even talk about geese.
