A week of nothing

I made an executive discussion a couple weeks back. I decided that after I graduated I would take the week off and just enjoy myself. And that is exactly what I have done. Monday I slept in and started cleaning/packing my room, which is actually really hard because I'm not moving for a month. Monday night I went down to watch BJ play softball. Tuesday I spent the day at BJ's house and then watched another softball game for BJ and then one later in the evening for his brother. Wednesday mom and I went shopping for a mother of a bride dress for her. It wasn't as easy as you might have thought but we did finally find a dress that looked good on and wasn't a fortune. Thursday BJ, McGuire and I went couch shopping and we found one we really liked. And today is Friday and I am doing more of the room cleaning/packing.

Also though out of the course of the week I have finished two books "L is for Lawless" and "M is for Malice" and I have done a bunch of cross stitch.

Here Ye, Here Ye

**Trumpet Sound**
Just thought I would let you all know that I am now an official Speech Language Pathologist!!! Yes I did it. I got hooded, I climbed the steps, I walked across the stage, I shook some persons hand, and then walked down the stairs. I didn't fall and they said my name correctly. As far as school goes, I think I am done for a couple of years. Now it is time to grow up and get a job. The thought is a little frightening just because it is something new. It's not that I don't think I will be a good SLP but the fact that I am no longer a student. It took me 6 years to finally figure out how to do a good job at school now it will all change and I will have to be a professional.

Thanks for your attention, you can go on with your day.

Mythbusters

So I'm not really all that sleepy because I am sleeping in until about 9 or 10 every day so I feel the need to stay up until odd hours of the night just to spend at least a 60:40 ratio of being awake to sleep. So I need something to do to keep my attention long enough and I found MythBusters. For all of you who have not seen this show it is on Discovery Channel and they take urban legends and use scientific practices to prove or disprove the legends. Tonight I found out that talking on the phone, and taking a shower during a thunderstorm could get you killed (they proved this one), your toothbrush can collect fecal mater by being in the bathroom (so cover it up or put it in another room), and eight men in a rowing boat (like the one in the Olympics) can pull a water skier. One of the ones that they disproved was a man in the civil war was shot through the leg and the family jewels then the bullet hit a woman a couple hundred feet away in the abdomen and impregnated her. For anyone who enjoys seeing the research about statements, they would enjoy this show. So no more showers for me during a thunderstorm.

The Monster in the attic

Okay it was only Sonny but he still scared me this morning. Mom happened to forget to tell me that Sonny was going to be over to do something around the house today so I woke up to what I swore was a fox or raccoon in the wall. And I wasn't in that stage of sleep where I was half a wake and half asleep, no I was dead asleep. So when I did finally become conscience enough to realize what was going I was thinking, "Mom is going to flip when she finds out there are animals in the attic." But then the noise didn't stop so I decided to see if the house staining people were here and what do you know there was a latter outside of my window. That's when I realized the noises that woke me up probably weren't animals, but I still didn't know who put the latter there so I went downstairs and realized it was all Sonny. So that was the first 20 min. Of my morning.

Big OOPS

Well so let me tell you ablout the oops I had today. I was in Joliet out by BJ and brought his car to get a new pair of shoes (other wise known as tiers). After we were done I started to head home and got a phone call. It was my work calling to ask me where I was. I was a bit confused because I was sure I had today off, so I did not understand why they were wondering. Then they told me that I was currently thirty min. late for work. I wasn't even sure what happened next but I knew I was 60 min away and I still didn't have any scrubs. So I appologied profusely and sped toward home. I eventually got to work and worked the remainder of my shift. When it was time for me to go home I decided to check the schedule one more time. I figured out my error. I wrote down my Monday time in the Tuesday spot and then I guess I created new hours for me to work on Thursday but it sure would have been funny if I showed up to work and wasn't supposed to be there after a day I didn't show up to work because I didn't know I was supposed to be there.

Explanation of a Corn bag

Honestly if you ask me they are the coolest invention on the face of this planet. They are actually very simple to make once you have all the right stuff and understand how to use the sewing machine. So basically it is a bag of dried feed corn. That's it. But the use of a corn bag is what I enjoy. You throw it in the microwave for about 3 min and it stays hot like a heating pad for hours. Or you can put it in the freezer and use it for an ice pack again it stays cold for hours. Since it is corn it form fits to what ever body part you want it to and it is great for injuries.

That is what a corn bag is for all who didn't know.

Prom Weekend

While I was working massive hours this weekend other individuals between the ages of 16 and 18 were attending local proms. One such couple was Brett and his girl friend. I only was able to see pictures of this lovely event but man do those kids clean up nice. So here are a couple of pictures of them.

On another note, today was my first day off in seven and I enjoyed it completely. Just ask BJ, I was desperately needing this day off. Work gets stressful after a certain amount of time. Today I
1. Returned Brett's Tux
2. Bought a new pot for a plant I have
3. Made two corn bags
4. Fixed my spread sheet in excel workshop
5. Repotted my plant
6. Unloaded the dishwasher
7. And just chilled out.

tomorrow it is back to work I am so excited.

Getting Sick of work

I have a bit of a problem. I am driven by making money, and when you get paid hourly it means picking up more hours. Well I don't usually realize how many hours I pick up when I am doing it because all I am focused on is the money I will be making when I do the work. Now I figured out that I am working close to 80 hours in two weeks and I am working every single night for 7 days. So I am sort of working illegal because you should have one day in seven off of work. So in the next few days if you need me I will be at work. Call me to say Hi!!

Happy Birthday Sara!

Today is Sara's birthday. Last night a bunch of us went out for her birthday and we had a good time. I think Sara had the best time out of all of us but that is how it should be seeing as it was her birthday. Today, however, Sara and I were going to go out to lunch but I think her party took it all out of her. I hope the rest of her birthday goes great and is enjoyable.

Silly Animals

This morning I was at my Dad's house and the dog and I were sleeping in. I think Jasmin secretly knew that I was the only one not getting out of bed before 7 so she came into my room to stay out of the way of traffic. Well when my alarm finally went off Jasmine gave me a look as if to say, "Just five more minutes." So since she wanted to sleep more I reset the alarm for 30 more minutes and fell back asleep. However, when the alarm went off the second time Jasmin stood up, walked to the top of the bed and laid across the pillows placing her head on my shoulder. Every time I tried to look at her she covered my face in dog slobber. And she laid there on top of me for about 15 min before I finally figured out a way to sit up without injuring her. She just made me laugh because I have never seen here do something like that before. We should have named her Goofy instead of Jasmin.

100th episode

This is my 100th blog. Real amazing right?

Well first of all thanks to everyone who was worried about me but I'm back and still kicking.

So lets see what to blog about today... hmm... Oh I know!

Okay so before grad school I really did not have much of the craft bug in me. (It does cause a bit of a fever and stuff when you have it real bad). However, when I started hanging out with Jen a bit more I realilized I had the craft bug but it was just lieing dormit for a bit. So the bug came to the surface and started causing problems. First, I started a HUGE cross stich that I am now only about half way done but it has been pushed aside due to other obligations going on in my life at the moment. Then I Started the Veil of Death. Which might I add, the large part edge beading is complete now I just have to do the small part and little things but again, Not finished. Then I decided hmmmm, I know a handful of people who practicly attach me to get my corn bag, so I should make some of those to reduce scaring and bruising prior to the wedding. So I asked for directions on how much fabric to buy and how large squares should be for this thing but I never heard back about it. Well since the bug has been growing more confident I decided I could do it myself (just like a three year old). However, I have Never and I mean Never bough fabric before in my life, I have been there when other people have do it but this was a new experience for me. So Obviously I buy to much. Then I cut the pieces what I think is too small. So instead of having a corn bag I have bean bag size bags for corn. HMMMM again, if only I had those stupid directions. So when I am trying to sew the bags together the sewing machine and I start to fight. (Speaking of, mom I need some help with the Sewing machine). SO right now I have 6 corn bags cut but not put together because of the machine being difficult. Any other craft project I can start and not complete? I would love to know!

Careful, we are about to wake a sleeping beast!

So it has been over a month since I last posted and I have a good explanation for it all I promise. But along with my explanation I will catch you up to everything that has been happening in the busy world of Kelly.

First of all, I PASSED MY TEST!!! Wahoo! This was not a test that I needed to pass to graduate this was just a test I needed to pass in order to get my state license. Done! I was worried about it for a while but now that I know I did it I am not worried any more.

Second, the time between the test and now I spent a lot of time preparing a presentation and writing a paper for school. Basically the paper needed to be about a treatment option or type of syndrome we were working closely with during our internship. That took more time than I would have liked it to have taken, but it is done and now I am waiting for a grade on the project.

Third, I finished up with my internship with Action For Kids. It feels good to be done but I miss all my little kiddos.

Fourth, I got a job. I interviewed some time in March and I accepted a posision at the Rainbow Center which is super exciting and super scary at the same time. I mean come on, this is my first step in being a grown up.

Fifth, BJ and I are moving along smoothly in the wedding plans but I want to talk more about that in a bit.

And last but not least, BJ and I found a place we want to live for the next year or so of our lives while we get everything settled before we buy a house.

Okay about this wedding thing, it's actually more about the wedding and growing up thing. Recently I have been having moments where I just become way overwhelmed with things going on. I try not to think of things to much because that is when it happens the most, however, I will just be sitting somewhere and all of a sudden I will realize that I will soon have to pay a lot of money for rent every month and now it is me paying with my own money not mom's money any more. Then I start to think about having a real job. I have been working this job for about the past 15 weeks but now it will be for real, I will be on my own, nobody will be watching me, or there to jump in if something bad happens during therapy. Then I start to combine the two things and start to worry that the money BJ and I will be making won't be enough to pay our bills and still be able to save for a house cover our fun expenses. Then there is the whole wedding thing too. I mean the invitations need to go out soon, and I mean soon. Like the end of next week and I don't even know if we have all of the right addresses. We sent out our save the dates but some of them came back "return to sender" now I don't remember which ones those are and I would hate to have someone not get there invite because it go lost in the mail. Then it is like every time I turn around some one new is asking me, "Is there anything I can do to help?" and I feel bad telling them no when I am in this state of mind. Im going crazy but I am such a perfectionist that I know if something isn't done just the way I would do it, I would probably redo it just so I felt comfortable that it was a quality job or something. Then there is the shower stuff too. I don't really know how this is supposed to go but I thought I wasn't supposed to have to worry about planning the showers. Right now however, I feel like a relay person telling this person what that person said or is thinking, then relaying the comments back to the first person and so on.

I think I am just a little overwellmed can you tell??? I hope this is normal but I'm not really sure. And I really hope it's over soon because I can't take it much longer.

Sorry it was so long but it makes up for a little time away.

One and Two and

Okay so I got another day off today. Wahoo, but shhh BJ doesn't know, I'm going to surprise him. Today is BJ's 24th birthday so, Happy Birthday Old Man.

So this morning I woke up and was getting ready, I was almost completely done with my hair and makeup when Gina called me and told me she was going to stay home sick again today. So here I am all awake and ready to go with no where to go so I got dressed and went to the gym. I really am liking this new gym. It is one of those circuit places where you go around in a circle and use all the machines for a set amount of time then switch. Well between each machine there is an aerobic station alternating between steps and one of those squishy boards you run/jump on. Well today I was on one of the stair things and I wasn't really paying that much attention to my feet and I almost missed the step completely and fell on my face. From that moment on I decided talking needed to stop and I needed to focus so I didn't end up hurting myself and going to my interviews all swollen and odd looking.

So now I just got back from Voting and I am off to grab a quick lunch then head down to see BJ. Then I will have to come back up this way for my meeting then interview then I am heading out to my Dad's for the evening.

Busy, Busy

This weekend was the annual Youth Auction. And a word of advice, if you don't want to spend money at an auction don't bring your check book. Both BJ and I spent about $200 but it was okay because it was for a good cause. Out of my purchases I got a hair cut, an hour massage, a years gym membership, some hand made cards, candy apples and a beach towel. BJ got six months of free hair cuts, free income tax service, an old guys night out for both of us and two other people, and some other random stuff. Then today I woke up and was getting ready for work when Gina called to tell me she was taking a sick day and not going into work because she had a bad cough. So I was up and awake and had to stay up for about another hour so I could call the families to let them know we weren't coming so I couldn't go back to sleep. I then did somemore research, shopping and went to the gym to get all the paper work signed and did my first work out.

The rest of this week holds a lot of fun for me. Starting tomarrow I have my first interview, Wed. I have my second interview and BJ's birthday dinner, then Friday i have two more interviews.

See you letter!

A day of silence

Nobody died. Just to get that out of the way first and for most. However, I have been left by my voice. I guess life wasn't good enough for it hanging around waiting to express my thoughts. Some time late Monday it got real bad and just up and left. Tuesday I still went to work but felt real useless due to the fact that being a speech pathologist you need to talk to your clients. So I spent most of the day just tagging along behind Gina and whispering when I thought appropriate. However, by the end of the day my throat hurt to much so I just decided that if I still didn't have a voice today then I would stay home and put my voice on bed rest. The fewer people I see the less I feel the need to talk.

Well this isn't like any other day when your sick and stay home from work. NOPE! I feel great but I just can't tell you. So here I am board because there is nothing on TV and I already got like 9 hours of sleep last night so I couldn't even sleep in. So I decided to be productive and get some resumes out into the real world and see what would happen. Well I decided I should probably call some places first before I mailed them off so me and squeaky called a handful of places and everywhere I called and talked to a real live person wanted my resume so they got it. It really does look quite nice. Then came the cool part, four of the places want an interview. So next week I have four interviews. I think that is kind exciting. Wish me luck.

Watch out Mad blogger on the loose!

Ahh!! Two blogges in the same week. I know that is so uncharacteristic of me lately.

First I will send out a thanks to BJ for still thinking it is a good idea to get married! I feel the same way but it is nice to know he feels the same way.

Now on to the good stuff. Most of you know my supervisor at my externship is pregnant, but so are two other individuals at the clinic. So I spend the majority of my day around women who are slowly gaining little tummies and I start to day dream. Most of you also know that when my brain gets going I just can't stop, so naturally it's been going in the direction of pregnancy. I keep thinking about how different life will be once I am pregnant and I am starting to catch myself not doing things so I wont have to change them when I do get pregnant. CRAZY!!!! NEED TO STOP!!!!

For example, I want to by some new clothes, especially pants, but I don't want to buy anything that I might grow out of in two or three years. Okay really two or three years, people buy new clothes all the time in that extent of time. Maybe I should just jump the gun and buy myself something like this so I don't have to buy new underwear in three years when I get pregnant. Then shirts, that's a whole nother story. To save time Just call me a freak and get on with it. So could some one make me a giant L to hang over my bed to remind me I am loser? Thanks.

Its Been a while

Yeah, I know, I have been a bad person and not writing. SO SORRY.

Now its time for excuses. Okay well I have been studying my butt off to take this test that I had today. The easiest way to explain this test is its like the Speech Language Pathologists version of Boards. Plus I have been busy with my "job."

Catch up time: Last weekend BJ and I had premarital counseling. It was fun but really long. And I'm not real sure if they did this on purpose, but we were sitting on the most uncomfortable chairs in the whole church. Now most people didn't attend our church so they wouldn't know better that we had better chairs but we knew better. 8 hours on these things! Poor BJ, He was in pain, around 1 or 2 my lower half fell asleep so I forgot how much pain I was in. Over all, the event was a good we learned some new stuff and we still have to meet with our marriage mentors to review our scores that we received.

This weekend I came up to Wisconsin to take my test. I decided to come up here because I could then see some of the girls I haven't seen in a few months. Last night Tania and I studied for a bit then I came to the hotel and tried to get some sleep. Tried was the key word to that sentence. I did not sleep well at all, I was to hot, to cold, spazing that I missed the test, so on and so on. Finally, when it was time to get up I felt horrible. I kept trying to tell myself that it was just nerves but I am now convinced that I had some type of intestinal thing because I still feel like something has tied my intestines up into a huge knot. Now I want to go into the hot tub but middle aged people are down there and I don't want to go and sit with a bunch of strangers. Not may cup of tea. Oh well. Tomorrow I will head home back to the same old same old.

Our weekend

We had a bunch of fun this weekend! We went down to Chicago Saturday night to see Tony and Tina's wedding. I would highly recommend the play especially if you are Italian. If you have never heard of it, it is like going to a wedding and you are part of the reception. BJ got real into it and so did some of the other people around us which made it that much more fun. Then we stayed the night at the Ambassador East Hotel, they had robes in the room for you to use. The tub at this hotel was super, unfortunately I didn't figure this out until Sunday morning so I couldn't take a bath and enjoy it. Then on Sunday we went to the Shedd Aquarium because we had free passes so we decided to go and enjoy the fish and other wild and scary animals.

The bummer though, I forgot the camera. I didn't realize this until we were getting on the highway and it was to late to turn around and get it. So no pictures of the weekend, sorry. Trust me I'm mad I forgot the camera and I can't even draw you pictures of the fish or things cuz I'm not that creative.

Blah

Have you ever had the feeling that you know you are cranky but not really sure why? That is my current mood today. I don't know why I feel cranky, I just know that at any moment, for no particular reason, I could just snap. So blah is a good way to describe my current mood.

On a separate note, I bought the items for our wedding favors today. I'm excited. I came up with this idea a while ago but had to wait for today before I could execute. While I was looking for these items I went to about four stores and couldn't find them. I started to get real worried and even started thinking of a back up plan. But then I got to work and there was a store right by my store and sure enough there they were. So I started buying and got a little carried away. This weekend Mom and I are going to Jo Ann's and doing the same thing but for different items. I love bargain shopping!!!!

Question for Google

So who gets to create the logos for Google? I think that would be a fun job, graphic designer for google. All day you would sit around and research different world events then change the google logo to match or support that aspect. I wonder if that is a full time job or if different people can submit there entries to be reviewed. So if you could design a google logo what would it be for? I think mine would be some time in May for Better Speech and Hearing month. (the one up is for leap year).
