Snow Day

It all started Tuesday afternoon.  The snow started falling and the wind started blowing.  By the end of the night it was crazy outside.  It made some crazy awesome designs on the doors and windows.

Wednesday morning we decided that it was to dangerous for BJ to head to work and it was decided the night before that I wouldn't have to go to work until at least 12.  So we stayed in bed until the little guy woke us up at 7:30.  I took the dog out to pee because the snow in the backyard was up to her ears.  We went for our walk and stayed in the middle of the street because there were no cars or anything out there.  It was fun! Then we had breakfast in our PJs.

After breakfast we got our snow gear on and went out so Elijah could experience "the snow of the century!"  Daddy even blew up Elijah's sled and he thought he would help and blow up his sippy cup.  It was funny to watch the little man copy his daddy.

Once we had all our snow gear on we took the little man out in the snow.  He was not happy about it AT ALL!  he cried for the majority of the time.  But I still took a few pictures.  If you look closely in one of the pictures you can see the 40 MPH winds.  Yes, I am such a great parent I took my child out in crazy wind chill.
Once Elijah had had enough we took a couple of pictures on what it looked like around.  Our poor neighbor put off clearing out their garage and look what happened to her car.  It took BJ and Tristan only about 15 min to dig the poor car out.  And yes the snow bank really is taller than me, and this was one of the smallest ones around, just the only one we could take a picture of from our front door.

We went inside and quickly took off our snow gear.  Elijah decided that his new sled would make a great chair.  He also decided that he wanted to be pulled around the house.  Really?  We couldn't do this outside?  That lasted about 10 minutes before I was done.  Then he just sat there.

Then it was time for lunch. Elijah wanted to save some on his face.

When we were done eating BJ decided it was time to did the dog a path.  As he was making his way from the front door to the back I watched a cop drive into a snow pile.  I told BJ to go help him so off he went to dig out the cop.  We have to suck up to them as much as possible since summer is just around the corner and we probably will be calling them A LOT! Right behind the cop was the snow plow.  Great timing!

Once BJ had a good path for the dog out they went.  I took some good action pictures of Rescue.  We almost lost her once or twice in the snow drifts.

Then the entire house took a 2-3 hour nap.  Very productive day.  By the time we woke up we needed to get out of the house, however, the options were very limited so we ended up at Wally world. Apparently, every one and their cousin were there.  But the parking lot had some good pictures.

1-11-11

Oh happy day of 1!  What did you do today to remember the day.  I went to work and there was no power.  With no power comes no heat.  It was chilly when I got to work.  However, 10 minutes to 9 the power came back on and it was off to work for me.  By noon the heat finally kicked on really high.

Other than that nothing super special happened.  How about you?

It's that time of year again.

No not when Christmas music being played before it really should, but when you have to figure out how to change all the clocks in your life.  The hardest one, the one in my car.  First of all, its a semi new car.  But secondly, you only do this job two times a year.  9 times out of 10 I remember to change every single clock in the house but completely forget about my car.  Then a day or two later when I get in my car I look down and freak out because my initial reaction is that I am an hour late for (typically) work or, why the heck am I going to be THIS early?? Then it hits me.  Daylight Savings time.  However, I am still driving so I am trying to figure out how to change the time in the 10-20 second at the red lights.  But I can never get it.  Then in my minuscule attention span I typically forget by the time I get to work (you know 3 minutes later).  Then it all happens again on my way home.  That's when I sit in my garage for the next 5 minutes until I get the time right.

Ta Da!  This year I did it before noon on Sunday and only freaked out once.  That was when I thought I was lat for church.  HAHA  Can't wait for April!

11 months

Wow, I can't believe Elijah is 11 months old today. I can remember exactly what I was doing one year ago today. I was as huge as a house, as comfortable as as the Princes who slept on a pea, and was at a good friends wedding. Let me just tell you all, if you are preggers there is nothing on the face of the planet that makes you look bigger than you really are than a dress. I even tried to use the whole color thing to my advantage, I wore black. Yeah good for the whole overall effect of it, not so awesome at an outdoor wedding. (tried to find the one picture of the day, no luck, Bummer.) Either way 12 months later I now have a very cute, very big, little boy. Our day started with a big poopy diaper, and a quick shower with daddy. Then I gave our boy a little hair trim around the ears, I only have a couple of years where I can make sure the has a great hair cut before he decides he wants to chose his hair style. Then BJ spiked his hair. We picked out a cute outfit from Auntie Katie and off to church we went. Elijah sat so well during church, and didn't have to be taken out once. It was great. Then we headed to Phillip's Park Zoo as a trial run for his birthday in one month. We had a picnic lunch, and looked at several animals. All in all, Elijah did great, we just need to work out a system for keeping him cool on these hot days. But he did let us put sunscreen on him so no worries about a bright red baby tomorrow. We came home, Elijah and I both took a 2 hour nap while the Blackhawks won! Wahoo. Then off to dinner with the neighbors, bath and bed.
I am very lucky to have such a wonderful little boy, he even snuggled with me for a bit tonight before bed which typically he will scream and cry. I love the baby he is but every day I see a cute toddler trying to surface. I just hope he keeps his wonderful attitude and personality, then maybe they won't be so terrible.

A Day in My Life

We will do a 12am to 12am.

We start with me sound asleep (most of the time.) Some time between 2 and 3 little man Elijah wakes up and wants to be feed, and me being the wonderful mother that I am try to ignore him for at least 10 minutes hoping he falls back asleep. He never does. So I get up, check to make sure my side of the bed is still on so the bed is warm when I get back and go get the boy. I stumble into his room and remember he weighs half a ton and have to get my muscles ready to lift him out of the crib. I feed him for about 20 minutes then think about changing him. I change him only about 50% of the time, typically only when he poops during the feeding. I then try to burp him but most of the time he is already sound a sleep. I put him back in his crib cover him up and head back to bed. Crawl back in bed, kick the dog back to the end of the bed because some time during the last 20 minutes the dog took over my spot. I fall back asleep until about 5 or 5:30. Lately, Elijah has been sleeping in later but sometimes he wakes up at 5 and wants to eat so I feed him if not then at 5:30 my alarm goes off and I hit snooze for about uh... 30-45 minutes.

6:15 I typically roll over and realize I need to get up and almost at the same time I realize I didn't wash the pump parts last night and I'm already running late. I poke BJ and ask him if he will help me. He always mumbles a yeah. I then head off to shower and get ready for the day. At 6:40 if Elijah has not eaten yet I feed him while I do my makeup. I then stare at my baby for a couple of minutes until I realize that I needed to be downstairs about 10 minutes ago.

7:00 I get downstairs turn on the hot water to wash the pump parts, make lunch, and make breakfast. Some times I eat in the car others I eat while I make my lunch. All the while I stare at baby. I then throw all the pump parts into the bag, swear I will wash them when I get home tonight and put it, my lunch and hot tea into the car. Come back inside put a coat on the baby and run him to the sitters (two doors down). Say goodbye to BJ and head off to work by 7:20.

Now the last couple of weeks my car has been making funny noises and that is never good especially when your income is less than before. So the whole way to work I think about the noise and how much it will cost to fix.

7:50 I get to work go in and talk with the ladies in the front. Sign in, get my charts and head off to prep for the day. That typically means staring at my computer for several minutes before I realize if I don't pump soon I will lose my window and be in pain for the morning. So I grab my first few charts, my cart and some toys and head off to my room for the day.

8:15 pump, 8:30 start therapy and treat until about 11:45 when it is time to pump again. 12:00 time for lunch and talking with my co-workers. 12:30 back to treating until 3:00 when it is time to pump again. 3:15 or 3:30 back to work until about 5. I clean up my room and get ready to head home. Get home between 5:30 and 6 most days to feed the baby his rice cereal.

7:00 bring the baby up to bed and get put him down, 7:30 head down stairs and figure out what is for dinner and eat some time later.

8:00 sit down on the couch and watch my nightly tv, when I usually get so sleepy that I start to fade. 9:00 think about going to bed early, 10:00 get up to go to bed, turn on the bed, brush my teeth, and head to bed. Think about not cleaning the pump and think tomorrow will be different. At about 10:30 BJ comes to bed which means I talk to him for several minutes and don't actually fall asleep until 11 thinking tomorrow I am going to bed earlier. Fall asleep. The end.

Day late 6

So yesterday was 6-6-06 as everyone knows. If you didn't know I'm not really sure were you were at but you have bigger problems than knowing what is going on in my life.

Anyway, nothing really spooky or evil happened to me yesterday, basically it was just another day. Today however, I forgot my lunch, was originally scheduled for 5 kids but ended up having 6, got stuck at subway for the majority of my lunch, had a twilight zone moment at White hen right after that, and left work late. There that was six weird things that happened to me that would have been a little more meaningful if they had happened yesterday.

Happy Halloween

Hello and Happy Halloween. Hope everyone's day was spooky! Today for me was just another day at school except my poor roomie was attached by back pain and we had to handle this creepy Halloween activity. Last night, however, the Demon Shower was back and this time it had two friends, Clogged drain and Count Duckula. So one more time Happy Halloween, trick-or-treat and BOOO!
